Otis on Origin of His Caterpillar Move and His Talk with Scotty 2 Hotty

Digital Spy held a recent interview with Otis and two of the topics discussed included the origin of his Caterpillar move and his talk with Scotty 2 Hotty on wanting to continue The Worm’s legacy in WWE.

On the topic of the origin of his Caterpillar move in WWE, Otis stated:

“It was at a dance party at Elementary School. No girls would dance with me so I had to get the crowd over with my moves.

I started shaking my hips and getting going and I waited till everybody was watching – you know, it was a big circle dance, everybody’s looking in there and checking you out.

And that’s when I dropped. Bam! It’s a little bit stiffer on the floor than in the ring. And I got love from doing that move, so I just kept doing it. So now every wedding I get sore ribs the day after.”

On the topic of his talk with Scotty 2 Hotty, Otis stated:

“I told (Scotty) this move means a lot to me and I know you’re the king of The Worm but I want to continue this and we’ll call it The Caterpillar.”

Tama Tonga Comments on the Differences Between NJPW and WWE & AEW’s Approach to the Coronavirus

Sports Illustrated held a recent interview with Tama Tonga and one of the topics discussed included his thoughts on New Japan Pro Wrestling’s approach to the coronavirus pandemic compared to WWE and AEW.

“There is a different sense of unity in Japan. Here in America, the show must go on. Money needs to come in, so the wrestlers are still wrestling. New Japan stopped holding shows. That’s not just for the safety of the fans, but it’s also for the health of the wrestlers.

It’s a different culture in Japan, a lot different from ‘the show must go on’ mindset. The majority of our income comes from live shows, which has been cut out, but the company has held onto the staff and reassured us that no one will be let go. The company is more of a family in Japan.”

Misc. Wrestling News & Notes

Tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite in Canada reportedly will be airing on both TSN 1 and TSN 2, according to Post Wrestling. John Pollock also reported that following Dynamite, TSN 2 will be airing a replay of HBO’s Andre The Giant documentary film from 2018.

AEW revealed on Twitter that announcer Dasha Gonzales will be one of the official competitors in the upcoming new season of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Titan Games series on NBC.

Major League Wrestling announced that their Intimidation Games event for this year has been rescheduled again and will now be taking place on June 5, 2021. The company also announced that all tickets already purchased will be honored at the event.

MLW also announced that they have recently signed a deal with DirectTV to air three of their past events on the service for the month of May. It was announced that their Saturday Night SuperFight 2019 event will air on May 7th, their Battle Riot II event will air on May 14th, and their Opera Cup 2019 event will air on May 21st

IWA Mid-South announced that they are currently planning on resuming live events with crowds this June in Indiana despite the state’s Stage 4 of their ” Back on Track Indiana” plan recommends for large public events to remain closed.
