Four more wrestlers are in a battle with Lucha Underground to be released from their oppressive contracts.
According to Lucha Central, Jeff Cobb (Matanza Cueto in LU), Sonny Kiss (XO Lishus) and Famous B have all sought legal representation to be granted their releases from Lucha Underground, and Willie Mack is expected to do the same.
Jeff Cobb actually signed with Ring of Honor in July and his character was killed off during season four of Lucha Underground, so it’s surprising that he is apparently still stuck in his contract. Despite being signed to ROH, Lucha Underground higher ups have reportedly continued to insist that Cobb is still under contract with them and have even tried to block him from working in ROH.
Sonny Kiss is presumably part of the AEW roster and is scheduled to wrestle at Double or Nothing on May 25 in the battle royal.
Willie Mack has recently been wrestling for Impact, NWA and ROH, among other promotions. Lucha Underground has reportedly sent cease and desist letters to ROH and NWA over their use of Mack, according to SoCal Uncensored. Mack dropped the NWA National Championship to Colt Cabana this past Saturday at the NWA Crockett Cup.
Lucha Underground settled lawsuits and granted releases to five wrestlers last month: Joey Ryan, El Hijo del Fantasma, Texano Jr., Ivelisse and Kobra Moon. The lawsuits alleged that Lucha Underground violated California labor laws and illegally restricted them from taking other work, potentially costing them hundreds of thousands of dollars.
