The decision to change the War Raiders’ name to “The Viking Experience” was Vince McMahon’s idea, and it was only made on the day of their debut.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, on Monday, Vince McMahon decided that he didn’t like the name “War Raiders” so he had it changed. As mentioned yesterday, they were originally going to change it to The Berzerkers, but Vince didn’t like that, so they ended up going with “The Viking Experience”…
There has been some speculation that Vince changed it because he doesn’t want to use the word “war,” but it has nothing to do with that, according to Dave Meltzer. Vince just didn’t like the name “War Raiders” so he changed it to a much worse name.
