Matt Hardy said that his match earlier tonight at a WWE house show in Corpus Christi, TX was his final live event commitment and it was “most likely the last time you will ever see Woken Matt Hardy in WWE.”
Thanks for the massive love tonight, #WWECorpusChristi.. I fulfilled my final advertised live event commitment.
Please support my partner, @WWEBrayWyatt, going forward. He’s outrageously talented & we’ve become kindred souls during our time teaming together. Thank you, SAMAEL. https://t.co/YI70qHpGOJ

[EXCLUSIVE VIDEO] It's time for me to go home.. To be a father and a husband. I did so much more than I ever imagined I would do in this industry. Thanks for making this incredible journey with me, ladies and gentlemen. I love you all. https://t.co/xGbm8bKSQD

In the above video, Matt Hardy had this to say:
I want to just take a moment and address the WWE Universe. All of the woken warriors, all of the Hardy Boyz fans, all those people who have allowed me to live my dream for so many years. This is all I’ve ever wanted to do and I got to do it at the highest level for 26 years. I’ll never forget the reaction the WWE universe gave us at WrestleMania 33 upon returning, it was really one of the greatest moments of my career. WrestleMania 34 was a great moment, winning the Andre the Giant battle royal. I got to bring my creation, the ultimate deletion to Raw in the main event slot. Lot of cool stuff I got to do.
There’s been a lot of speculation for quite a while online if I’m gonna be wrestling any longer or not. And WWE fortunately let me fulfill all my advertised commitments. But tonight here in Corpus Christi, this was the last advertised commitment I had. I never say never, or as Woken Hardy would say, nevah say nevah. But tonight is most likely the last time you will ever see Woken Matt Hardy in WWE.
I have two young kids and a wife. It’s time for me to go. It’s time for me to go home.
Hardy has been undergoing treatment for various injuries and it was previously said that he would make a decision about his in-ring future after the treatment, but it seems like he’s leaning towards retirement.
Hardy has been working in a backstage role as a WWE producer for the past month or so, and that may be a future role for him in the company if he decides that’s what he wants to do.
