Update on Status of Kofi Kingston’s Knee Injury

As previously reported, Kofi Kingston was reported to have suffered a knee injury during Wednesday’s Smackdown house show in Honolulu, Hawaii.

In an update to this situation, the Wrestling Observer reported the injury happened due to Kofi Kingston slipping on the top rope while trying to perform a crossbody move. While the injury seemed serious at the time, Dave Meltzer reported Kofi was recently medically cleared by WWE’s doctors and will resume work for this weekend’s set of Smackdown house shows.


Rumor: Hell in a Cell PPV to Feature Two Cell Matches on the Card

Next month’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event is currently rumored to be featuring two Hell in a Cell matches on the card, according to Pro Wrestling Sheet.

During a recent episode of Pro Wrestling Sheet’s podcast show, Ryan Satin reported the WWE is currently planning on Smackdown’s Tag Team Championship match to be another Cell match for the event. This match is currently rumored to involve The New Day defending their tag team belts against The Usos.

This year’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view is a Smackdown brand exclusive event and occurs on October 8th at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.


Rumor: NXT’s Authors of Pain to be Called-Up Soon for Smackdown

NXT tag team The Authors of Pain are currently rumored to be getting called up soon for the Smackdown brand, according to the Wrestling Observer.

During a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio show, Dave Meltzer stated the WWE is currently considering plans for the Authors of Pain to make their main roster debut soon and Smackdown as the likely brand. At the moment, it is unclear if their manager Paul Ellering would also be called up with the team.

Authors of Pain have been rumored in recent months as being among the current batch of people from NXT getting called up to the main roster. The team was previously rumored to debut at SummerSlam and be revealed as the mysterious attackers of Fandango and Tyler Breeze.
