The Reason For Hulk Hogan’s Restaurant Closure Revealed

The closure of a Tampa, Florida restaurant with a Hulk Hogan theme did not happen because of the racism and sex tape controversies that the wrestling legend recently went through. TampaBay.com has a new report on the “Hogan’s Beach” restaurant closure, shooting down speculation that owner Ben Mallah closed the Hogan-themed eatery down because of bad publicity over the sex tape and racially-tinged rant that made headlines over the summer.

The site reports that Mallah, the owner of the Best Western Bay Harbor hotel that housed the restaurant, sold the entire property to a Chicago-based group called Oxford Capital Group which specializes in high-end boutique hotels for for $34.5 million. The deal closed on Monday.

“Basically everything with us is timing,” Mallah told the outlet. “We buy assets and fix them up. The market is high right now. Tampa’s hot …Hogan had nothing to do with it. He was fine. Ultimately, we’re in the real estate business, not in the restaurant business.”

The site adds that the new owners are planning major renovations to the hotel and that it is still operating under the Bay Harbor name for the moment.
