In an interview with All Things Wrestling Radio, former Tough Enough contestant Daria Berenato spoke about the win of Sara Lee and more. Here are highlights:
On when she decided to go from MMA to wrestling: “My co-hosts on my UFC show are huge pro wrestling fans. I would kind of bust their balls when they’d bring it up on our UFC show. So I’m like, ‘Guys, we’re talking MMA, not pro wrestling,’ and they they would always reference it. So, when the opportunity came about, I saw WWE Tough Enough and then Maria Menounos, who was the Owner and Co-Founder of Afterbuzz TV, was like, ‘Daria. You have to do this.’”
On Sara Lee being the female winner of Tough Enough: “I don’t think Sara Lee is a bad person in any way, shape or form, but I will say I don’t think she has what it takes to be in the WWE… She’s a nice girl; I think she’s a good person. She’s not naturally athletic like the rest of us, or most of the rest of us. And she doesn’t like to talk in front of the camera. She’s very shy, she’s very bashful. So maybe she’ll be a unique WWE Diva, who knows? There’s a spot for everybody, right? I just don’t see her being as successful as in the WWE as the most of the rest of us could be or could have been.”
