UPDATE: Hank Avery Jr. spoke with the Sporting News following his elimination on Tough Enough last night. Check out the highlights:
On people claiming there was voting confusion: “I got eliminated last night and a lot of people having been pouring in on Twitter and Facebook and social media saying how they don’t really like the voting and that the WWE didn’t explain it enough. Excuses nonetheless. I think there was some confusion about how to vote but at the end of the day no one got anywhere based off excuses. We met Hulk Hogan, Paige and Daniel Bryan for the first time last night. We had not come in contact with them until last night on the show. As for the audience at home, I can act myself 100 percent of the time, which I did on the show, but it’s reality TV and the people behind the camera, they have to mold certain people certain ways just to make it interesting. Unfortunately, I got labeled as someone I’m not. That’s life for you. The people back home that know me and the other people in that house, the other twelve contestants, they know I’m not like that. They were just as sad to see me go. They were great people and real genuine characters.”
On not giving up on his dream: “I spoke with Hulk Hogan last night after the decision,” recalled Avery. “He came up to me and applauded me for how I handled everything. He was born in Augusta so he’s a fellow Georgian. He sat me down and said if this is something I really want to do that I could have a spot in this business. He’s getting in touch with some people in the local area and try to get me into a couple of wrestling schools, wrestling coaches and I’ve already had two contact me this morning. I’m definitely going to pursue a career in this. I love it. I think it’s a great opportunity. I had a great time meeting everyone here. It’s been a short amount of time but it’s been an awesome experience. On the last season of Tough Enough, Cameron got voted off first and she’s in WWE. Ryback got voted off two of three seasons ago and he’s a common face of the sport, of the business right now. I’m taking it as a sign. I may not be cut out for a reality TV show but I think I’m cut out for the WWE.”
