Ken Shamrock admitted to using steroids during his career while appearing as a guest on Friday’s “Fighting Words with Mike Straka” on HDNet. Shamrock had denied using steroids following his February 2009 win over Ross Clifron despite testing positive for multiple steroids after the bout. He and his camp had blamed over-the-counter products for causing the positive tests.
Shamrock also said it’s “easy” for MMA fighters to acquire steroids and other banned substances and then seemed to blame the fans a bit, stating that the fans want to see muscled-up fighters but then expect them to not take drugs.
“When they find out about it, they want to stick their heads in the sand,” Shamrock said. “No one wants to take responsibility, but everyone wants to see [bigger athletes].”
