Phoenix (real name Beth Kocianski) was a WWE Divas champion and a three-time WWE women’s champion. Carolan also became the first varsity female wrestler at Notre Dame High School in Elmira, NY.
“I am truly humbled and excited to receive the Frank Gotch Award this year,” said Phoenix. “The long list of incredible athletes and humanitarians that came before me paved the way for a girl from a small town to share a page in the history book of wrestling.
“The Frank Gotch Award has particular meaning for me because my dream was for my career to have a positive influence on those around me. I am looking forward to coming to Waterloo to experience the Hall of Fame ceremony in person, spend time with old friend and meet new ones.”
