Triple H held his usual pre-NXT special conference call today. Here are the highlights…
* He stated that they are working on getting the Network set in the UK, but that the NXT special will air Saturday on Sky Sports 3. He is looking forward to the show, feels that Zayn and Neville have a great chemistry and can take things to the next level. He is also proud of Charlotte and Sasha Banks, and also feels that they can take the divas division to the next level and in a new direction.
* He was asked about Charlotte appearing and losing quickly on Raw. Triple H said that there were time constraints. As the show went on, they lost more and more time on the segment and it had to be the way that it was. He would have loved to showcase them with the time that they got in NXT. He added that when Charlotte returns to Raw, she will be presented differently and made it sound like it would be a while before she returned so people would hopefully forget.
* When asked about a possible NXT WM week show, he said that they have talked about and it sounds easy to do it on Mania week, but the schedule is really busy. He said that NXT will be represented during the week. He added that Full Sail affords them a lot from a production and economic standpoint, but that they are considering something NXT specific for Mania week.
* When asked about the futures of Zayn and Neville, he said in six months he hopes that they are WWE stars. It will all come down to integrating them in the WWE product in the best way possible and that is six months he doesn’t want to be calling them “NXT stars” anymore. He reiterated (like on the last call) that while NXT is developmental, he views it is a separate brand of WWE.
* He was asked about reports that developmental talents are being told that they will have to invest two years before getting a min roster shot. Triple H explained that you couldn’t put a timetable on things that way, noting that someone like Kurt Angle picked up the business at an amazing pace, which not everyone can do. He added that guys like Itami, Balor and Owens are ahead of the curve in regards to experience, so their time will be getting accustomed to the way that WWE does business. He discussed the new guys also learning about the production aspect because they need to know how the shows flow, and explains that Finn Balor was very “frazzed” at first because he never had to know any of these things.
* Triple H was asked about the NXT Titles being defended on WWE PPV. Triple H wants more eyes on NXT, so Raw appearances are the first thing. He wants to continue to grow the brand, and didn’t rule it out.
* He wants to continue to make NXT its own brand, and still wants to tour outside of Florida. His whole goal is more people watching the NXT brand.
* Triple H put over Sami Zayn as an emotionally captivating performer. He praised Zayn for coming out of wearing a mask to having these amazing facial expressions. He says that Zayn pulls you in as a performer, and called him “Ricky Steamboat-esque,” saying that he’s your guy and you cheer his success and feel his failure.
* When asked about William Regal, Triple H said that he was an amazing asset to NXT. He is a great recruiter and trusts his opinion when it comes to evaluating new stars.
* He was asked about “overly scripted promos” and said that in NXT they are still teaching guys to ad-lib. Scripting promos is dome, but it is all about the emotion in how the performer delivers it.
* Triple H spoke about the growth of NXT internationally, and stresses making the brand as viable and stand alone as possible. The middle east and Japan are places of growth and Triple H feels that Sami Zayn can be an inspiration to young Arab kids and be as popular there as Khali was in India.
