The early estimates for ROH’s June PPV debut, Best in the World, are at approximately 10,000 buys. This is the number that the company said they would need to break even back when the PPV was announced in May. The number is being seen as a success considering the fact that they only had a few weeks of promotion. They also didn’t advertise on RAW or SmackDown and had very limited advertising on billboards, etc.
Sinclair Broadcasting, the parent company of ROH, said the PPV was an “exploration” into the market. The deal they signed will require two PPVs this year, including Best in the World and Final Battle in December. There is a possibility for more in 2015, depending on how these two PPVs do.
Meanwhile, there was said to be an accident in the promotion for the PPV, as PPV providers apologized to ROH for the ads running only a day before the show took place.
