Jerry Lawler had mentioned a few weeks back that he was hoping to make the Memphis Wrestling library available to fans via the WWE Network. According to sources, Jerry Lawler is greatly involved in attempting to resurrect and assemble what is left of the old Memphis wrestling video library. Word is that Lawler has been reaching out personally and via intermediaries to those who may have masters and/or good quality copies of old Memphis TV episodes in an attempt to acquire them. DVD vendors have reportedly been approached about helping with the search.
The Memphis Wrestling library is fragmented, back in the day many of the masters were discarded and taped over, as was the norm in the TV industry. There were different partners involved in the business at times, all of whom could claim ownership over at least part of the library before the promotion was sold and went bankrupt in the 90s.
The feeling is that it will be nearly impossible to put the entire library back together, but it could be a big pick up for the WWE Network. WWE has also been in discussions with the Colon family about acquiring the WWC video library from Puerto Rico as well.
