JD McDonagh & Kairi Sane Injuries & WWE Return Updates
As noted before, JD McDonagh has been out of action for WWE since this past January due to a broken ribs and punctured lung injuries. Besides McDonagh, Kairi Sane has also been out of action for WWE since this past December due to an arm injury.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that there has been growing internal optimism within WWE regarding McDonagh and Sane being able to return to in-ring action in the near future.
Johnson reported that the current belief within WWE is that both McDonagh and Sane are close to getting medically cleared to compete again.
Rusev WWE Signing & Return Plans Status Update
As noted before, Rusev, former Miro in AEW, visited WWE’s headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut this past Wednesday and had recently signed an official contract with the company.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources provided an update regarding Rusev’s visit to WWE’s HQ.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that the reason for Rusev’s visit was to “have meetings with different officials” to prepare for his return to the company. Rusev reportedly also had participated in a photo shoot.
Johnson reported that Rusev was at the WWE HQ for “pretty much the entire day.”
Lana Potential Future WWE Return Reportedly Not Currently Expected
As noted before, CJ Perry, former Lana in WWE, departed from AEW this past July. Perry had been speculated online to potentially be returning to WWE to reunite with Rusev following the recent news of him signing with the company for his own return.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that WWE officials are currently under the impression that Lana will not be rejoining the company with her husband.
Penta Comments on Rey Fenix’s Upcoming WWE Debut
As noted before, former AEW talent Rey Fenix recently signed an official contract with WWE. In recent weeks SmackDown shows, WWE had aired vignettes teasing Fenix’s upcoming debut with the company and revealed that it will be officially taking place on the April 4th show in Rosemont, Illinois.
WWE Deutschland held a recent interview with Penta. One of the topics discussed included Penta’s thoughts about him being proud of his brother Fenix for his upcoming in-ring debut in WWE.
“Yeah, man. Finally. It’s very simple — the best wrestler in the world comes for the best company in the world, man. This is my brother.”
Penta also gave his thoughts about one of his dream goals for his career is to have a mask vs. mask match against his brother.
“This is my dream match: Penta vs. Fenix mask vs. mask. I don’t know when, maybe only in my mind happens that. But maybe in 10 years… maybe it’s possible, I don’t know.”
