Drew McIntyre Confirms Backstage Incident at Royal Rumble 2025

As noted before, Drew McIntyre was involved in a backstage incident at this past February’s WWE Royal Rumble 2025 event. McIntyre was furious over his issues with LA Knight messing up the original plans for his elimination from the Men’s Royal Rumble match that was meant to be a major moment to kick off his WrestleMania 41 program with Damian Priest.

A recent episode of the Getting Over: Wrestling Podcast featured McIntyre as the guest. One of the topics discussed included McIntyre confirming the reports of him being involved in a backstage incident at WWE’s Royal Rumble 2025 and his reason why he quickly left the venue after his elimination.

“I mean, not all the details are accurate but yeah, I was fuming (at WWE Royal Rumble) and I let everybody know what I thought and then I left. Because I’ve learned as an adult, nothing good happens when you’re highly emotional so just calm down, get the facts, then deal with it, because I don’t want to punch somebody in the head and be unprofessional and then find out facts later I didn’t know about. It was the grown-up thing to do.

For me, it’s just if I ever feel somebody did something disrespectful, went into business for themselves and the likes. That’s when I get frustrated and sometimes it’s not what it appears on the surface and you have to get all the facts together and you have to just calm down. It’s just fun that every time I have a moment — it doesn’t happen often (he laughed). (Damian) Priest finally jokes about it on the promo because that’s all he’s got aside, ‘Drew complains all the time. He’s always gonna leave the building’ and I was like, ‘Come on, mate, it’s a couple times in a few years.’ Consider I’m Scottish, I got an anger problem, that’s not too bad. Also, if I stayed, I might have punched some people out and been like, oh, actually, it wasn’t their fault. Wakey, wakey.”

Kevin Owens Comments on Getting to Use Package Piledriver Again in WWE

A recent episode of the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast featured Kevin Owens as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Owens’ thoughts about him getting to use the package piledriver move again in WWE.

“Well, the package piledriver was something I’ve asked many times before, and it was always, ‘No, not right now, not today, doesn’t work, can’t do it.’ Until eventually it was, ‘Yeah, okay, let’s do it.’ I didn’t feel like hitting it on Randy was the best decision. I thought a normal piledriver was enough for Randy, because Randy is gigantic and quite frankly I didn’t think I could get him up for the package piledriver, because of the way his body needs to be. He’s just too massive. But yeah, and then Cody at Saturday Night’s Main Event was the right time to do it. It was cool. I waited a long time to get to do that in WWE. And the funny part is I knew Penta was coming, and Penta was doing package piledriver and I was like, he better not get to do it before me, because I will lose my sh*t. But it all worked out.”

CM Punk Comments on Not Thinking About Retirement Plans for His Wrestling Career

Metro held a recent interview with CM Punk. One of the topics discussed included Punk’s thoughts about the future of his wrestling career and him not currently thinking about retirement plans.

“No, because you never know what’s going to happen. If you would ask me when I was 26 if I would be wrestling when I was 46, I would have been like, ‘No way.’ [laughs]

The business has changed so much, the miles that we put on our bodies for years and years and years, and now we’re here, and we’re wrestling maybe once a month, we’re doing one show a week.”

Punk also gave his thoughts about a future acting career.

“The Netflix thing is interesting, because I think they want to specifically find projects not only for me, but other superstars that they feel can cross over,” Punk said. “I would love to do stuff with Cena. I would love to do stuff with anybody, really. I’m in it to learn. And in that respect, I’m an artist. I want to do stuff that’s fulfilling.”
