As noted before, Charlotte Flair and current WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton were involved in an incident at this past Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Chicago, Illinois. This incident revolved around their promo segment going very off script over Stratton bringing up Flair’s personal life issues including her history of failed marriages and Flair responding back implying Ludwig Kaiser was cheating on Stratton.
Fightful Select reported that their sources provided several more details regarding the backstage reaction over the promo segment and if it has effected the current plans for Flair’s and Stratton’s match for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 41.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that there has been no change in the creative direction for Flair and Stratton’s feud despite their unexpected and unscripted promo exchange on last week’s SmackDown show.
It was reported that while it is current not known what WWE officials plans are for the match at WrestleMania 41, the finish is the same as it was prior to Flair and Stratton’s promo segment incident.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that they were not concerned about Flair and Stratton becoming overly unprofessional in their upcoming match at WrestleMania 41. Flair and Stratton reportedly have been told what is the planned result for their match but this is something that is typical for talent to not know until the day of the event.
It was reported Flair and Stratton’s match is currently expected to take place on Night 1 of WrestleMania 41 on April 19th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Flair responded earlier today on Twitter about Stratton’s comments about her personal life during their segment on last week’s SmackDown show.
“After being blindsided by my personal trauma on live television, my character said something on-air that was not true, and I’d like to take this opportunity to clear the air.
I should have NEVER called the Chicago fans smart. I sincerely apologize.”
