Update on Mariah May’s AEW Contract Status & Career Future
As noted before, “The Glamour” Mariah May’s contract with AEW is currently believed to potentially be expiring between this summer and this November. May is also currently believed to potentially be leaving AEW for WWE once her contract expires.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that May is being wise and maximizing her levegare and negotiating power for her next contract.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that AEW officials absolutely hopes to retain May in the company.
It was reported that rumors and reports claiming that May going to WWE was already something in the works or effectively a done deal is not true. It was also reported that rumors of May’s name being on WWE’s internal “incoming” list is also not true. It was reported that WWE’s internal roster list has had Jeff Cobb’s name on it for a month but this was due to him being without a contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling during that time period.
It was also reported that those spoken to confirmed that May still has several months left on her contract with AEW.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that the biggest surprise about May’s contract situation was the possibility that May was only on a deal of this short length with AEW.

In a recent interview with the AEW Hey! (EW) show, “Speedball” Mike Bailey gave his thoughts about the origin of his mullet hair cut style for his look for his wrestling career. Bailey stated “It was ironic initially. It was a post-pandemic haircut where, I assumed no one would see it and it wouldn’t really matter for the longest time. But I’ve grown to love it. I’ve grown… genuinely fond of it. I used to have long hair, and I really liked it. I thought that looked the best on me than, you know, all the other short hairstyles I’ve had.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
In a recent interview with the McGuire on Wrestling podcast, MVP gave his thoughts about the advice he gave to Kevin Knight after Knight had recently asked him for some advice for his wrestling career. MVP stated “I was just telling Kevin Knight the other day. He asked me, ‘What advice could you give me right now?’ I said, ‘Look man, you’re dope. You still need to learn a few things in terms of showmanship on television. You’re wrestling ability and athleticism are unquestionable. But, you want my advice? Promo. Promo, promo, promo. Talk in the shower, talk in the car. People should think you’re a madman because you’re driving along in the car having a whole raging argument with somebody and people are like, damn, what’s a matter with that guy? Keep cutting a promo.’ Promo, promo, promo. Because that’s where you’re gonna make your money. If you’re a guy that works phenomenally and you can talk? Well, now you’re talking about drawing money.” (Transcript h/t: PostWrestling.com)
In the same interview, MVP also gave his thoughts about his current plans for the future of his wrestling career and Hurt Syndicate group. MVP stated “From the time I signed a contract with WWE, which was in 2005, I have not had a job outside of the professional wrestling industry, and I’d realize how fortunate I am to have that, and to know that at this point, there’s no end in sight. When I retire from wrestling, you know, I lucked into this manager thing, it wasn’t planned. It just kind of happened, and here I am with this whole new chapter of my career being a manager. So, when I retire from being an in-ring guy, and Bobby and Shelton decide to retire, the Hurt Syndicate closes shop. Potentially, I’m still around to be a mouthpiece for some other young talent to help teach them and guide their careers and help blow them up. So conceivably, I could do this for another 10 or 15 years.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
