AEW CEO Tony Khan held a media scrum on Thursday to promote this Sunday’s AEW Dynasty 2025 event at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Some of the notable highlights included:
- On the topic of if the Chris Jericho vs. Bandido match was pulled from the card for Dynasty due to it disappeared from AEW’s website and wasn’t mentioned during the card rundown on Wednesday’s Dynamite show, Khan stated that there is still one more television show to go before Dynasty. Khan also stated that Bandido never formally accepted the mask vs. title match challenge. Khan also stated that never confirmed the match for “good reasons” with one reason being the “availability of Bandido to do the match and have the match play out safely for him and for us.” Khan did not go into details about what he meant about Bandido’s status.
- On the topic of Sting potentially inducting Lex Luger into WWE’s Hall of Fame for this year’s ceremony and how he would react if approached for the idea, Khan stated “I’m not sure. I’m very focused on AEW Dynasty. I talked to Sting recently before AEW Revolution, looking back on some great memories. We caught up on the phone right around the pay-per-view and that was the last time we had spoken. Haven’t heard from him about that. Certainly, he’s doing very well, and that relationship and friendship means so much to me, and we’re all very grateful for Sting. The last time I talked to Sting, that didn’t come up. Would have to talk to him about that.“
- On the topic of the recent report about AEW Dynamite averaging around 500,000 viewers for their simulcast shows on MAX, Khan stated “I thought that was a really exciting report for AEW and very consistent with everything we’ve been told. While the numbers are being kept close to the vest, we’re one of the top sports streaming shows and that report was consistent with what I’ve heard.“
- On the topic of some of the negative online backlash over the spiked bat suplex spot to Jon Moxley on the March 19th AEW Dynamite show, Khan stated that it was a “hardcore moment” and praised how tough both Moxley and Cope were for their Street Fight match for the AEW World Championship. Khan also stated that Moxley was able to wrestle this week.
