Clarification Update on WWE ID Bookings Rules & Process for WWE ID Matches in Indies

As noted before, Game Changer Wrestling owner Brett Lauderdale denied a report from Dave Meltzer in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter about WWE’s current rules and process when it comes to WWE ID talent being booked for indie events. Lauderdale denied that WWE official Gabe Sapolsky puts together the matches for WWE ID talents and provides indie promotions with a script to use. Lauderdale also denied that WWE provides a travel stipend for their WWE ID talents booked for indie events and promoters having to cover the difference if the travel costs are higher.

Dave Meltzer provided a correction in Sunday’s Daily Update stating that his report was not originally meant to be published as part of the current Wrestling Observer Newsletter issue and instead was an incomplete report. Meltzer reported that the actual full report was meant to be published for this Friday’s issue.

Meltzer reported that those spoken to stated that Sapolsky does give a script to promoters and WWE covers the travel costs only for matches that are promoted by WWE as WWE ID Showcase matches and everyone in the match is an WWE ID talent.

For matches booked that are not official WWE ID showcase matches or if the WWE ID talent is getting booked on their own, then the rules from WWE do not apply for their bookings.

Meltzer also reported that WWE currently does not block matches for their WWE ID talent and they can work indie shows against AEW talent but WWE won’t promote those matches nor feature them on their YouTube channel.
