Steve Austin Provides Update on Knee Surgery Recovery & His Reaction to John Cena’s Heel Turn Moment
As noted before, WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cole Steve Austin underwent total knee replacement surgery for his left knee in late 2024.
A recent episode of the Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez podcast featured Austin as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Austin providing an update on his current recovery from his knee surgery.
“Doing good, I’m about 13 weeks out. It really takes about a year for these things to fully heal up, so it’s still a little bit tender, but just got back in the car and started driving. We’re about to run the Mint 400. Zach’s run it a couple of times but he’s broke so he hadn’t finished it. It’s going to be a rough race, probably the roughest race I’ve ever driven. If I can just keep my knee together, that’s my break leg. I’m just going to do the best I can. The knee is feeling solid, I’m out of pain because it cut all of that arthritis out when they put that new joint in there. I’m in a good place, but I’ve got some work to do.”
In a separate recent interview with The Schmo, Austin gave his thoughts about John Cena’s surprise heel turn moment at WWE’s Elimination Chamber 2025 event.
“It had to happen sooner or later. Finally it happened. So it’ll be interesting to see, you know, whether the people accept him as a heel or has he turned himself more babyface. I think it remains to be seen as the story unfolds. Nonetheless, they’ve kicked off an epic build into WrestleMania. And that’s what they do every single year. And this year it’s here in Las Vegas, so it’s going to be pretty damn awesome.”

In a recent interview with Instinct Culture’s Denise Salcedo, NXT talent Stephanie Vaquer gave her thoughts about her making her in-ring debut for WWE at a live event in Mexico City this past July. Vaquer stated “My debut was very quick. I debuted in Mexico, which was incredible for me because I debuted with an audience I was accustomed to, an audience that made me feel at home.So for me, it was really great to debut there. But yes, people were very expectant about that debut, about being able to join NXT. People were excited and waiting. Obviously, it takes some time. All the paperwork, the visa, and everything that comes with it, right? But everything went well, and people were waiting for me with great anticipation.” Vaquer also gave her thoughts about her official debut appearance for WWE’s NXT brand this past September. Vaquer stated “So, happy not only to achieve success but also to reunite with my friend Giulia. Our experiences started almost at the same time, so having this experience with your best friend, well, what luck, right? Yes, honestly, that was one of the things that made me feel happiest, the fact that destiny brought us together again, this time here in WWE. We had faced each other before. We already knew each other. We always had a good friendship, good chemistry, and meeting again here was just like… great. Just great. And I think it was one of the things that made me happiest when I arrived. I didn’t feel so alone anymore. Right? Because it’s something, well, it’s a new world, right. everyone, you know a bit of English, but also the language.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
In a recent episode of Kinda Funny Games’ Gregawy series on YouTube, Greg Miller confirmed that he is no longer working for WWE. Miller stated “If you didn’t know, I hosted a show for WWE called ‘This is Awesome’ where we ran you through the most awesome moments in WWE history. We filmed three seasons of it and it was awesome and it was great, and it’s officially over. I’ve known for a while that we were (done). I was just hoping to skate by a little bit longer on wwe.com/superstars so that I could keep saying that I was a WWE superstar. I knew this day was coming. You might have noticed, season three’s outro was very much, ‘Thank you for everything.’ It could have been a season finale, but we thought it might be a series finale.” Miller also gave his thoughts about how WWE’s focus on Netflix seemed to play a role in his departure from the company. Miller stated “It was a Peaock show. Raw is on Netflix in America. Everywhere else, everything is on Netflix. Netflix is kind of the focus, not Peacock, in terms of what was going on. There were a few different things that happened. Then, it was the shocker for me, the people who make ‘This is Awesome’ were actually laid off in January. ‘That’s not good. Now there is no one there to make it happen.’ The other one, since jumping over to Netflix, you’ve seen the one and only Big E host a bunch of different show. I think, that more than anything, ‘this is why it doesn’t make sense for Greg Miller, video game dork, to host anything.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
