WWE News & Notes
Friday’s UFC Fight Night: Moreno vs. Erceg event in Mexico City, Mexico featured current NXT Women’s Champion and NXT Women’s North American Champion Stephanie Vaquer shown in attendance.
As noted before, NXT talent Giulia is currently dealing with an undisclosed injury and has been away for some time off to heal since WWE’s NXT Roadblock 2025 show earlier this month. This show was notable for Stephanie Vaquer defeating Giulia to become the new NXT Women’s Champion and retaining her NXT Women’s North American Championship in a Title vs. Title match. Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources within WWE denied that Giulia is currently hurt nor the reason for her absence is due to her taking some time off. Meltzer reported that NXT officials original plans for next month’s Stand and Deliver 2025 event was for a Triple Threat match of Giulia vs. Stephanie Vaquer vs. Jordynne Grace. Meltzer also reported that those plans appeared to have been dropped based on NXT television in recent weeks and the current plan likely is Vaquer vs. Grace with the possibility of Jaida Parker being included for a potential Triple Threat match.

In a recent interview with the F Y’all Podcast with CT Fletcher, former WWE and current AEW talent MVP gave his thoughts about his issues with dealing with scripted promos for him during his time in WWE. MVP stated “I remember when I first started. We did a press conference where MVP was signing his contract. They gave me my script, and I read the lines. This was the actual verbiage in the script, ‘Check out these fine threads I be wearing.’ I went to Dusty and showed it to him. ‘What the fuck is this?’ Dusty looked at it and goes, ‘Damn, baby. That’s awful. I don’t know who wrote that shit, but go do what you do.’ I went and asked, ‘Who wrote this shit?’ It was somebody in Connecticut; he wasn’t even there. I figured out early on that ‘they’ can’t write for me. You can give me what you want, give me an overview, and let me go out there and do it. Don’t ever again hand me some shit like that.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
In a recent episode of the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast, co-host Pable Torre debunked the longtime claim by WWE Hulk Hogan about how he had lost out on a grill sponsorship because of missed phone call that eventually went to George Foreman and led to the famous George Foreman Grill. Torre stated “We went to the grill’s inventor Michael Boehm and his family issued a statement to us. They dispute the Hulkster’s cataloging of events. ‘George Foreman was the only celebrity our dad approached about endorsing the grill. We don’t know who started the story about Hulk Hogan being approached but it isn’t accurate.’ The agent Hulk Hogan cited was a guy named Sam. He repped Hulk Hogan and George Foreman. Unfortunately, Sam passed away last fall, but they shared a lawyer. The lawyer is a guy named Henry Holmes and he told us, ‘The Hulk Hogan story is not my recollection. In fact, it was two other celebrities sharing representation that their agent was asking about.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
