Bishop Dyer (Baron Corbin) Comments on “Several People Kind Of Confirmed One Person Was Part Of The Issue Behind My WWE Departure”

As noted before, Baron Corbin, real name Tom Pestock, was released by WWE this past November as part of a larger batch of talent releases. Pestock stated in an interview this past January that he believed one unnamed person was behind WWE’s decision to not renew his contract with the company.

A recent episode of The Ariel Helwani Show featured Bishop Dyer, former Baron Corbin, as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Dyer expanding on his previous comments about his feeling about one specific unnamed person in WWE being behind his release from the company.

“When I brought that up, it’s not something I want to put out there, just the name. But I do, and there’s several other people that have kind of confirmed that that person is part of the issue. They have a good amount of power, and for some reason, they’re not a fan of me or what I do. They were part of the thing to push me to go down to NXT and do some matches, which I think was kind of, ‘We’ll put him down there for a little bit. He’ll complain or he’ll do something, and it won’t work, and then that gives us a reason.’ Then I went down there and just killed it and caught on fire and became a babyface for the first time in my career, and the audiences were behind me, they loved the Wolf Dogs stuff. They couldn’t deny that it wasn’t working. So then when I got back up to the main roster, that person had power again, and I think I got shelved, and then if anybody, it doesn’t matter who it is, if you have one person that’s kind of that guy that’s always like, ‘Ah, not for him, let’s not use him for that. He’s not working,’ then other people are like, ‘Well, I’m not going to pitch ideas for that person because this guy’s going to shoot it down and stuff like that. Like I said, I’m not throwing names out there.”

Dyer also gave his thoughts about if he has tried to clear the air with that person.

“Yeah, but I also don’t know why or where it went south. I never gave a reason, for sure. I actually enjoyed this person. I thought they were….a lot of people have ulterior motives in this world, and they will be fake to your face, and you have to be able to separate them, and sometimes I will give people the benefit of the doubt. I think I gave it to them a few too many times, and I should have watched myself maybe better around them or whatnot, but I think that the reason they had an issue with me was not me, it was another situation that I think may have caused that, but who knows?”

More on NXT March 25, 2025 Viewership

The March 25th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a large increase in overall viewership and a slight increase in key demographic ratings.

NXT drew 741,000 viewers and a 0.16 key demographic rating on The CW.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for NXT’s increases this week was due to the large increases from their Over 50 demographic and older key demographic viewership groups, which its percentages were not given. This reportedly offset the large decline from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 23.1% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Golden State vs. Miami Heat drew 969,000 viewers on TNT and 172,000 viewers on truTV, the 2025 NIT Men’s Basketball Tournament game of UT-Chattanooga vs. Bradley drew 396,000 viewers on ESPN2, the 2025 NIT Men’s Basketball Tournament game of North Texas vs. Oklahoma State drew 325,000 viewers on ESPN2, the TGL Golf Finals Game 2 of New York Golf Club vs. Atlanta Drive GC drew 557,000 viewers on ESPN, Curse of Oak Island drew 1,748,000 viewers on History Channel, Love & Hip Hop Atlanta drew 306,000 viewers on MTV, Moonshiners drew 516,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 896,000 viewers on BRAVO.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 208,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that NXT’s male/female viewership skew was 67.7% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was up 21.9% in overall viewership and but down 5.3% in key demographic viewership.

Rose statedIt’s so funny to me that the people that never held a championship before are the first to sit there and argue about what counts as a double champion. Listen, y’all can argue semantics all that you want, but I still held two titles at the same time. Yes, unified them. Thank you. Call it what you want. Who cares? Double champion, Mandy two belts. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, John Cena gave his thoughts about how he stays motivated for what comes next so long into his wrestling career. Cena stated “I don’t think my ethos changes regardless of what the hill in front of me is to climb, I think that’s the fun of it… getting into a rhythm of familiarity is sometimes stifling for growth so man there is different hills in front of me every day. There’s one in front of me has its own challenges and I’m just trying to do the best I can to climb the hill in front of me.” Cena also gave his thoughts about what comes next for him in wrestling. Cena stated “Anything I tell will be a spoiler to fans, so I’m just going to say, you gotta watch the show to see what happens.

As noted before, NXT talent Damon Kemp, real name Bobby Steveson, departed from WWE following his contract with the company expiring this past July. In a recent interview with the I Love Wrestling Podcast, Steveson gave his thoughts about his interest in a potential return to WWE in the future. Steveson stated “I mean, if WWE called back, like I said before, I’d go back for sure. I don’t think I burned any bridges there. Never had issues, never back-talked. I felt like it was just one of those things, once my brother got let go, I don’t know if it was one of things, they wanted to stab the knife a little deeper in him and get me too as collateral damage. Like I said, if my wrestling was bad or my acting was bad or my character work was bad, I wouldn’t have been on TV as much as I was, and I wouldn’t be in the video game two years in a row. So obviously, I was doing my part. It’s one of those things…I talked to the person about it too, he was like, ‘Yeah, I kind of knew it was going to happen.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I kind of knew too.’ Just the extra, let’s stab the knife even deeper and let’s get his brother too. But like I said, a lot of people were shocked because I was on TV pretty much every week, and my wrestling was great, acting was great. It is what it is. But as far as any other ring, I’ve thinking about it, but I’ve kind of been excited about this music stuff me and Ethan are doing. But if the opportunity does come for an AEW or TNA or even WWE again, I enjoyed it, there’s no hard feelings. Yeah, it sucked, but like I said, it’s an entertainment business. The show’s not going to stop if one person’s gone. It just keeps rolling.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
