Callum Comments Newman on His Recent Knee Injury & Being Diagnosed with Dislocated Knee & Bone Bruise

As noted before, Callum Newman had been out of action for New Japan Pro Wrestling since this past December due to a knee injury. Callum made his in-ring return from injury at Saturday’s New Japan Cup 2025 event in Tokyo, Japan.

New Japan Pro Wrestling’s official website held a recent interview with Newman. One of the topics discussed included Newman’s thoughts about the cause of his knee injury this past December and how he immediately thought he would need ACL surgery.

“I was on the top turnbuckle, and both feet were on the same side of the corner. My foot was locked in place, so as I came down on the top, my foot stayed, and the rest of my leg came down on the wrong side of my knee. I felt the knee pop out once, and then come back in twice.

Yeah (it dislocated). I felt like a bang and then two pops back in. As I fell down off the corner, I could hear the air being sucked out of the arena, you know? Marty (Asami) was calling over the ropes, ‘Can you carry on’? And all I could do was just scream, No.’ It was the first time I’ve ever had to stop a match. I just felt a panic attack happening.

My brain started going through all the scenarios, and I’m an overthinker at the best of times. I’m just thinking, ‘OK, ACL, surgery, months off…’ You get to the back and of course, everyone’s a doctor all of a sudden (laughs).”

Newman also gave his thoughts about his injury was diagnosed as a dislocated knee and bone bruise and the treatment he underwent for it.

“A dislocated kneecap and a bone bruise. I didn’t need surgery, but I did need to have it drained… The first time was all blood, the second time was blood and joint fluid, and then after that, just joint fluid. After the second one, they said, ‘It’s a good sign.’

If it was bleeding then I would need surgery to stop the bleeding. But with just joint fluid, it means my knee was inflamed and that’s your body’s way of bringing that down. But I’ve had a needle the size of my pinkie finger going under my kneecap about thirteen times now.”

Boulder’s Domestic Battery Arrest Update – Charges Dropped & Case Officially Closed

As noted before, AEW and Ring of Honor talent Iron Savages’ Boulder, real name Thomas Wansaw, was fired by AEW this past February following his arrest this past January for domestic battery. Wansaw’s victim had filed a request this past January for the prosecution to end their case and for the charges against Wansaw to be dismissed.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that Katrina Teressa Mosciski, Assistant State Attorney for The Ninth Judicial Circuit of Florida, had filed paperwork on March 6th to the court stating that they will no longer be pursing criminal charges against Wansaw and that the case was now closed.

In the filing, the court confirmed that the case against Wansaw was now officially closed barring there not being no other charges or holds against him.

“COMES NOW the State of Florida, by and through the undersigned Assistant State Attorney and states that: 1. From the investigation which has been made, it is the opinion of the writer that this case is not suitable for prosecution. 2. This action is taken to clear the records and to release subject’s bond if any has been posted responsive to the above charge(s). If in custody, defendant should be released. PROVIDED THERE ARE NO OTHER CHARGES OR HOLDS AGAINST HIM”
