As noted before, Sabu’s scheduled retirement match against Joey Janela for Game Changer Wrestling’s Joey Janela’s Spring Break 9 event has been in doubt due to Janela recently underwent surgery for a torn biceps injury.
Sunday’s The Coldest Winter 3 event for GCW in Los Angeles, California featured Janela attempting to present Sabu his Indie Wrestling Hall of Fame plaque that was originally planned to be done at GCW’s Spring Break 9 event prior to Janela’s injury situation.
During the show, Janela came out to the ring with the plaque and his arm in a sling. Janela gave a speech thanking the fans for their support and talked about how he was supposed to have faced off against Sabu at this Spring Break 9 event but because of his injury, that is no longer the case. Janela then stated that he was here to give Sabu his plaque but Sabu was nowhere to be found and was no longer in town.
After some more words of praise towards Sabu, Sabu showed up and attacked Janela with a spike bloodying him up in the process. Sabu continued his attack and struck Janela with the plaque and then attacked his injured arm as GCW officials rushed out to separate the two. A bloodied Janela grabbed a microphone and told Sabu that he will see him at Spring Break.
