More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for February 26th

The February 26th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership and a slight increase in key demographic ratings.

AEW drew 598,000 viewers and a 0.18 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was #6 place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s increase this week was due to the large increase from their Over 50 demographic viewership group, which its percentage was not given, and small increase from their overall key demographic viewership group, which was up 4.9% compared to last week’s show. In regards to AEW’s key demographic viewership increase, their younger key demographic viewership group was up 39.7% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the show airing live on the West Coast which usually would lead to an 8% overall decline and the weaker than usual lead-in program viewership. Meltzer reported that the viewership on MAX for the show is currently not known. AEW’s lead-in programming Big Bang Theory drew 714,000 viewers and a 0.11 rating. Meltzer reported that this week’s show might have been the first time that Dynamite started off with more viewers than Big Bang Theory had ended their show with.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Philadelphia 76ers vs. New York Knicks drew 1,006,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Michigan State vs. Maryland drew 535,000 viewers on Big Ten Network, the College basketball game of Penn State vs. Indiana drew 339,000 viewers on Big Ten Network, the College basketball game of Texas vs. Arkansas drew 396,000 viewers on ESPN2, the College basketball game of Ole Miss vs. Auburn drew 404,000 viewers on ESPN2, Survivor drew 4,269,000 viewers on CBS, Expedition X drew 640,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, The Challenge drew 361,000 viewers on MTV, Sistas Series drew 745,000 viewers on BET, and My 600-LB Life drew 304,000 viewers on TLC.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 235,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 35,000 viewers (down 12.5%), Females 18-34 had 53,000 viewers (up 130.4%), Males 35-49 had 112,000 viewers (up 15.5%), and Females 35-49 had 35,000 viewers (down 45.3%). In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 27.3% in overall viewership and down 38.3% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 key demographic viewership was down 41.3% compared to the same week last year. Meltzer reported that one main reason for the large declines is due to the unknown key demographic viewership migration on MAX compared to last year’s show.
