Swerve Strickland Reveals He’s Under Contract with AEW Until 2029

As noted before, Swerve Strickland signed a new contract with AEW this past August to remain in the company for the foreseeable future.

A recent episode of The Bootleg Kev podcast featured Strickland as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Strickland revealing that he is currently under contract with AEW until 2029 and there being no other place he would rather be at than AEW.

” Yup (I’m signed to AEW until 2029). There’s nowhere else I would rather be. A lot of people say, ‘Oh, that’s just a PR. He’s supposed to say that sh*t.’ Nah, I mean that sh*t from the bottom of my heart. There’s no other place I’d rather be and do I have bad days as opposed to good days? Of course. This is a job. I have frustrations here and there. But, I work through those frustrations better here than I did in other places and anywhere else in the world. Whether it’d be Lucha Underground, MLW, WWE, NXT. Tony Khan and me have always worked through frustrations… Yeah (he lets me cook). But there’s certain times I’m like, ‘Ah, we didn’t cook as best as we could have been able to cook’ and I’m someone, I’m not going to half-ass that.”

A recent episode of the AEW Close Up with Renee Paquette show featured Adam Cole as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Cole’s thoughts about his relationship with the Young Bucks’ Matthew & Nicholas Jackson and how it felt to reunite with them in AEW. Cole stated “I’ve known Matt and Nick practically my whole career. It’s been a really, really long time since I’ve known them, and they are two of the best guys in the entire world, two of the most talented guys in the entire world, too, whether working with them at Pro Wrestling Guerilla or at Ring of Honor and stuff like that. So the cool thing was, too, even before I got to AEW, I had always kept in touch with Matt and Nick. We always had a relationship. But I remember leading up to being able to debut at AEW, one of the biggest things was, ‘Oh my god, I’m so excited I’m gonna get to see Matt and Nick every week.’ So, I love them. They’re one of the greatest tag teams, if not the greatest of all time. They really, really are, and two just incredible guys. So it’s really, really, really awesome to get to be around them again.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent interview with the Casual Conversations with The Classic podcast, Mark Briscoe gave his thoughts about his current goals for his AEW career. Briscoe stated “I wanted to win some AEW gold. I mean, whether that’s singles gold, whether that’s six-man, I want to win some AEW gold. That’s one of the first things I said when I got here. I said, ‘I smell gold in them there hills.’ I won the Ring of Honor World Title. That’s one of the top accomplishments of my whole career, and I’m not at all slighting the Ring of Honor World Championship, not at all, because I’d be happy to get another shot there. But I want some AEW gold, man. Whether I got the conglomerate with a couple of my boys and get [Trios] Titles, whether I get another shot at the TNT, do I get a shot at the International, or I get a shot at the big boy. You know what I mean? I just want some gold.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent interview with the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast, Will Ospreay gave his thoughts about his surprise appearance at Pro Wrestling EVE’s Multiverse Rumble event this past February and him performing a pedigree to a wrestler dressed up as Triple H on the show. Ospreay stated “I was doing some stuff with Pro Wrestling EVE and they do this thing called the Multiverse Rumble and everybody dresses up at characters. Somebody dressed up as Triple H and walked in. I looked at went, ‘I’ve got to do it now, haven’t I?’ It’s funny. If anyone doesn’t think it’s funny, I can’t tell you what your humor is, but my humor is, ‘this is hilarious. I’m gonna do it.’” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent interview with the Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez podcast, Swerve Strickland gave his thoughts about his praises of WWE Performance Center coach Terry Taylor for helping improve his wrestling psychology and AEW CEO Tony Khan for giving him the platform to express his creativity in wrestling. Strickland stated “It started with the ring psychology. At first, it was Terry Taylor in NXT. My mind was already working, but then he just — well, working in a certain way. But when I got into his class and I got in the ring with him, my dial turned so much further and it got me really thinking and touching base on who is doing what to so and so? Why is doing what to so and so? What’s the purpose? What’s the motive? How do you feel about what so and so did to so and so about what so and so did? To what? Your body part, your mom, your partner, your wife, your this. Your significant other. All these things. So it just took that storytelling part and it went another level depth and I was like, ‘Wow. I don’t just have to apply that here in the ring. I can apply that everywhere.’ So I just started really playing with that and Tony Khan gave me the platform to, ‘No. Go play’ and so I was like, ‘Okay. Cool. Let me wear this because so and so did that to me. That’s why I wear this. Let me change this because so and so happened in my life so therefore, I wear this now.’ Instead of just coming out to wear things or just coming out for music to have this because of that.” (Transcript h/t: PostWrestling.com)
