Will Ospreay Comments on “The Next Generation Will Look At Myself And Kenny Omega The Same Way That I Looked At Bryan Danielson And AJ Styles”
Yahoo Sports’ Uncrowned held a recent interview with Will Ospreay. One of the topics discussed included Ospreay’s thoughts about his belief that the next generation of wrestlers will look at himself and Kenny Omega in a similar light to Bryan Danielson and AJ Styles.
“I generally do think that to the next generation coming through, that they will look at myself and Kenny the same way that I looked at Bryan Danielson and AJ Styles. I take that with every bit of compliment and every bit of respect and responsibility under the sun. I’m inspired by leaving something behind, so then when the next person comes through, the workload will not stop with me. The workload will always find a way of producing more guys that want to work hard and give fans great, brilliant experiences for pro wrestling.
I think that’s the similarities between me and Kenny, is that we’re those guys now. We’re the guys that want to give people exciting and thrilling storytelling matches. I think the difference between me and Kenny is I still look at Kenny in that way, [where he is] still a mountain that I need to climb. There are things that Kenny does that I am in awe at and that I am wowed by. When people try and compare me and Kenny, obviously, there are things that we do very, very different in terms of stylistic and maybe even athletically. But I’ll always be in awe of Kenny’s ability to draw in everybody. He’s always had that ability to capture people’s imagination and to leave people with lasting memories. And I think that’s the one thing I want to try and master.”
Ospreay also gave his thoughts about his goal to become the AEW World Champion and wanting the responsibility it brings.
“I want to be the world champ. I cannot say it any easier than that. I have longed and wanted the responsibility for ages, and I feel like every time I got the responsibility in Japan, I dropped the ball because I wasn’t mature enough to see what was in front of me.
For the first time in my life, I generally feel like I have the fans’ trust, and I feel like there is a large portion of people that are backing and wanting me to finally take to the throne. And for me, I’m so grateful that it seems like it could be on the table. If I keep working hard enough and I keep dedicating myself, I could be that guy.”
AEW News & Notes
AEW recently released a new AEW Timelines video focusing on the Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher rivalry.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp also reported in a recent Q&A article that his sources stated that a number of wrestlers and people within AEW had pitched the idea of bringing rapper Kendrick Lamar to an AEW event. Those spoken to stated that it would be “difficult to pull off” and it is currently not known if anything will come out of the idea. This idea reportedly was in response to rapper Drake attended this past Saturday’s WWE Elimination Chamber 2025 in his hometown of Toronto and would have played off of the current Drake vs. Lamar rap rivalry.

In a recent episode of the Grilling JR podcast, co-host Jim Ross gave his thoughts about if AEW were to give out an MVP award for performances, it would be given to “Timeless” Toni Storm for her recent work in the company. Ross stated “I think that if you had an MVP award to give to somebody in AEW right now for performances in recent weeks, it would overwhelmingly be given to Toni Storm. She’s been the best performer, I think, in the company, and the young lady that she’s working with is right there with her, Mariah May. Golly, Conrad, Mariah May has come out of nowhere, and she’s just here, and all of a sudden, she’s a star. That’s hard to do. So, anyhow, I’m high on Mariah May and Toni Storm’s story. Boy, they’ve got a good one going, and they work well together. They hold nothing back.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
In the same episode, Jim Ross also gave his thoughts about how Kenny Omega has become one of his favorite wrestlers to call matches for on commentary. Ross stated “Yeah, because he’s, he’s always innovating new things. He’s adding new things, new little nuances to his matches. He understands the business.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
In a recent episode of the What Happened When with Tony Schiavone podcast, co-host Tony Schiavone revealed that he had been dealing with a broken tooth issue and recently had the tooth pulled out. Schiavone stated “I’m doing okay. It’s kind of been a rough 2025 for an old guy. The older you get, the more things happen. I do want to advise everyone that I had a broken tooth, and I had to get it pulled, and I’m getting an implant in. I just had my, after spending a month with these months stuck up in my chin or my jawline, they finally healed, and now they put the post in. It’s swollen right now. I’ve had this flipper in, and it’s really uncomfortable now. I’ve been able to get away with it on TV. I’m not so sure I can get away with it this week, with the flipper. I’m not so sure how great it’s going to sound. I may have a lisp.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
