Jon Moxley Health Update After Spiked Bat Spot on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Show
This past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show in Omaha, Nebraska featured Jon Moxley defeating Cope in a Street Fight match to retain the AEW World Championship. This match was notable for a spot involving Cope suplexing Moxley onto a spiked bat and some of the spikes being stuck on Moxley’s back requiring the assistance of Wheeler Yuta and the match referee to pull it out.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that the backstage reaction to the spot was “wild” and there was a lot of disbelief that it finally happened.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that Moxley was feeling okay after the spot despite how it looked when it happened and Moxley’s gashed back.
It was reported that AEW officials currently have creative plans in place to explain The Patriarchy’s Nick Wayne & Kip Sabian and FTR’s involvement in the match.
Ryan Nemeth Lawsuit Against AEW, Tony Khan, & CM Punk Over Breach of Contract & Alleged Assault Update – AEW Claims “Irreparable Harm” To Business If Contracts Became Publicly Accessible
As noted before, former AEW and current TNA talent Ryan Nemeth filed a lawsuit this past February against AEW, AEW CEO Tony Khan, and CM Punk over claims of assault was committed against him by Punk and breach of contract, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing and intentional interference with prospective advantage by AEW and Khan. AEW and Khan had filed a petition earlier this month requesting for the lawsuit to be moved into private arbitration.
Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston reported that he recently obtained a copy of AEW and Khan’s filing and their reasons for the request for the lawsuit to be moved into private arbitration.
In the filing, AEW claims that there would be “irreparable harm” to their business if company contracts were to become publicly accessible.
“Any public interest in obtaining access to the terms of the Agreements is outweighed by AEWs legitimate interests in maintaining the confidentiality of the contractual relationship at issue. Moreover, maintaining confidentiality of the terms between AEW and its Wrestlers and former Wrestlers, such as Respondent, is essential for AEW to remain competitive in the wrestling industry, and allowing the Agreements to be filed on the public docket will result in substantial and irreparable harm to AEW’s and Petitioner Khan’s business, which harm cannot be reduced or eliminated through any other reasonable means. Moreover, redaction, or any other means, will not cure the harm that Petitioners stand to suffer if the terms of AEW’s confidential business relationships become accessible by its competitors.”

This past AEW Dynamite show in Omaha, Nebraska went on as scheduled despite a blizzard impacting the area for almost the whole day. It was reported that Strickland was not at the show and he is still recovering from an eardrum injury he suffered at AEW’s Revolution 2025 event earlier this month. It was also reported that those spoken to stated that AEW officials and Tony Khan were very happy with both the show itself and nearly all the fans were able to make it to the show.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported in a recent Q&A article that it is currently not known if former WWE talent Indi Hartwell is currently interested in potentially working for AEW nor if AEW has made any moves following Hartwell’s match against Mercedes Mone at House of Glory’s event this past weekend. Sapp reported that his sources stated that Hartwell’s match against Mone was a late booking decision with Hartwell and many within HOG not even knowing about that was going to be her match until a couple of days before the event.

In a recent interview with the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Viva Van gave her thoughts about her officially signing with AEW after working as an extra for AEW and ROH shows for a long while. Van stated “First person I told was my boyfriend and then my family, so I celebrated with my boyfriend and my family. What it means to me? The world because I’ve been training, wrestling for eight years, working for seven and it just felt like all the hard work finally paid off. For a few years, I was like, ‘Man, what do I got to do?’ I mean, I feel like I’m on the same show with everybody except, you know, I just don’t have a contract yet. But I kept telling myself that: ‘Not yet.’ And I think that’s what kept me going.” (Transcript h/t: F4WOnline.com)
In a recent interview with Bleacher Report, “Speedball” Mike Bailey gave his thoughts about who he wants to have matches the most with in AEW for his career in the company. Bailey stated “On top of that list is Bryan Danielson. If that is still a possibility, if that is still something that can happen within the next few years, that is definitely very, very high on the list for me. There’s a lot of obvious ones. I’d love to mix it up with “Hangman” Adam Page, who is doing absolutely fantastic. One of my favorite performers there right now. I would love to mix it up with MJF. I think the kind of wrestling and the kind of program he does, he does better than anybody, and I haven’t really had the chance to go and do that with someone who does it as well as he does. So, I think that would be a great learning opportunity for me, but also a chance to showcase the other side of ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey that people might not have seen as much.“
In a recent interview with the Battleground Podcast, AEW CEO Tony Khan gave his thoughts about AEW’s Revolution 2025 event earlier this year being a “home run” and “huge commercial success” for the company. Khan stated “This was such a home run. It’s one of the best shows we’ve ever done, it’s one of the best venues we’ve been to. The fans were great in the arena. But also, it was a huge commercial success. We sold over 12,000 tickets. We had a huge amount of fans in the building. We also had a huge pay-per-view audience, one of our biggest pay-per-view audiences we’ve had and the biggest audience we’ve had since we were at Wembley Stadium last year for All In, for sure. This is one of the biggest Revolutions ever in terms of the live gate and in terms of the pay-per-view.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
In the same interview, Tony Khan gave his thoughts about AEW running smaller intimate venues for their shows. Khan stated “I think it just depends on the venue. I think for the pay-per-views, packing it in and bringing in 10-12 thousand fans, sometimes more, even the world attendance record we set in Wembley Stadium, over 81,000 tickets sold for AEW All In. These are great venues, great events. But it’s also great to see wrestling presented, as we’ve been doing it, on TV in recent months, in some of the great theaters, amphitheaters, and AEW is primarily, our TV has been known for a lot of great wrestling, a lot of great wrestlers, because AEW is where the best wrestle. But the venue that’s probably most associated with AEW television is Daily’s Place, which is an amphitheater. It’s a unique viewing experience. So then in recent months, we’ve visited all these great theaters across America, and we’ve been able to find some of that same spirit, some of that same, excited passion and that packed house in these intimate venues, like you said. You’ve got Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Recently, we had a great experience at the Andrew Brady Theater in Cincinnati, and people clearly loved seeing that. We were just at the Virgin Theater in Las Vegas. We’ve gone to some really great venues across different cities. Daily’s Place will always be number one in our hearts, I think, but lots of great places across America where we get that same energy. It’s different energy from these great pay-per-views in these huge arenas and stadiums. So I really enjoy it. I think first and foremost, the wrestling has been great, the wrestlers are doing a great job, our staff, and we’ve been putting great shows together.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
