Ring Boys Scandal Lawsuit Against WWE, TKO, Vince McMahon, & Linda McMahon Update

As noted before, a lawsuit was filed this past October against WWE, WWE’s parent company TKO Group, former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, and Linda McMahon on behalf of the survivors of the infamous WWE Ring Boys scandal in 1992. Additional survivors recently joined as plaintiffs for the lawsuit following the Maryland Supreme Court upholding the Maryland Child Victims Act as being constitutional.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that a Joint Status Report was filed by all of the participants this past Tuesday before the U.S. District Court District of Maryland (Baltimore) based on recent court records.

In the Status Report filing, it was noted that the Maryland Supreme Court had ruled that the State’s Child Victims Act has been upheld and meaning there are no statue of limitations on civil cases brought before the Court. Johnson reported that everyone involved is waiting for the court to end the current stay on the lawsuit.

In the filing, the two sides have agreed that once the lawsuit becomes active again, the defendants will have 45 days to officially respond or file their motions to dismiss the lawsuit. The plaintiffs would then have 21 days to respond back.

Johnson reported that if an amended lawsuit is filed, the defendants would have 14 days to respond to the new amended version.

In a recent interview with the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast, Ludwig Kaiser gave his thoughts about how he made sure to be there in-person when his girlfriend Tiffany Stratton won the WWE Women’s Championship on the January 3rd WWE SmackDown show. Kaiser stated “It was awesome. I actually flew in because it was a huge, huge moment. Obviously, I was there for her NXT Championship win back then, so I really wanted to be there as well. We have such an amazing product, especially now. But the only thing that really doesn’t do justice is the reaction and the way things sound when you’re actually there live. That moment when she actually turned on Nia was crazy. You had to be there in order to understand that that was really a huge moment. Really doesn’t do it justice on TV. But yeah, it was amazing. I’m so happy for her because I’ve been there for the lows, I’ve been there for the highs. I’ve seen it all very up close, and she created something there. She’s doing amazing.” (Transcript h/t: F4WOnline.com)

In a recent interview with the Toronto Sun, Carmelo Hayes gave his thoughts about his current Nothing But Net finisher he uses for his matches and him looking into getting a new finisher in the future. Hayes stated “I mean, I used to do it (‘Nothing But Net’) on the independents but it was a throwaway, you know what I mean? You don’t know better, what’s what and then you get to WWE and your skills get honed and I remember Shawn (Michaels), he was the one — I remember I brought it up. I was like, ‘I can do this move off the top rope,’ and I was working with a bunch of big guys at that time. I was in the Breakout tournament. I was working Josh Briggs and Duke Hudson and Odyssey (Jones) so I was working these huge guys and I remember thinking, I need a finish. Something that I can do and I was like, ‘I can do this move’ and I remember coach (Matt) Bloom mentioned, he’s like, ‘Hey, I just want to let you know, that’s a big move. It’s not a move you’re gonna be able to do every night.’ I was like, ‘Hold on, I don’t plan on it,’ and then Shawn had just been — that was his jam. ‘You gotta have a finish that’s over and everybody knows’ and so he was very adamant, like, ‘You’re hitting your finish, you’re hitting your finish’ and here we are and people think it takes more out of me than it really does. I’ve perfected it. I understand exactly where I need to land so I’m not taking the brunt of it. I understand how far I need — you know what I mean? I can hit it at any point. I’ve done it over a 100 times so I mean, that’s kind of what I’m going with. Now, I am playing with finding a different finish. Because I have a deep moveset that I can throw in there here and there so, I’m looking into something else possibly.” (Transcript h/t: PostWrestling.com)
