Current Push Within WWE for Potential Triple Threat Match for Undisputed WWE Title at WrestleMania 41

As noted before, WWE currently has plans for Cody Rhodes to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against John Cena at this April’s WrestleMania 41 event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

WrestleVotes Radio reported that their sources stated that there are people within WWE that would rather want Rhodes to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship in a Triple Threat match against Cena and CM Punk at the event.

These same people reportedly feel that would be a better match for Punk than the current plans for him to compete in a Triple Threat match against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins at the event.

Rey Mysterio Comments on His Plans to Announce His Retirement Match Ahead of Time

A recent episode of the Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez podcast featured Rey Mysterio as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Mysterio’s thoughts about if he wants to do a retirement tour similar to John Cena in WWE when he decides to retire from wrestling.

“I would love to make an announcement. I would love for the fans who have grown up watching me and supported my career from day one, of which there are still many around, to be able to say, ‘This is the last time I’m going to get to see him perform. I want to go take a look.’ I want to give the opportunity to those fans that have been loyal from day one. Prior to that, I would think, ‘I’m just going to retire one day,’ but it’s a hard thing to do when you start thinking about it. I know that time is a lot closer than it was yesterday. I have to prep myself up mentally. I do that slowly, especially now that Cena is doing his last run. I’m kind of looking at him and trying to get that understanding of what it feels like. He’s going into Hollywood and doing his thing, he has a great thing going on. For me, I’ve always loved and only done wrestling. Once I leave wrestling, I think about what I’m going to do next.”

In a recent interview with the Busted Open Radio podcast, WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker gave his thoughts about Starks’ surprise WWE debut and his friendship with Starks over the years. The Undertaker stated “I’m training at this gym, and I notice this kid there every day. Doesn’t say anything. Really respectful. As the training went along, we needed different spotters and different help. He was always right there. Finally, we struck up a conversation and he told me he was trying to break into the business and I kind of talked to him about different things. On one of the Rumbles that Michelle [McCool] was a surprise guest in, she wanted to get in the ring and he came down and trained with her. I’ve seen him a few times here and there, and I’ve always had great conversations with him. He’s such a good kid, such a respectful kid. I haven’t seen him in probably a year, year and a half, maybe. That’s how we met, in a gym while I was getting ready for Shane [McMahon] at WrestleMania.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent interview with the Busted Open Radio podcast, TNA Wrestling talent JDC gave his thoughts about his recent return appearances to WWE’s NXT brand and his match against Lexis King for the NXT Heritage Cup at this past Tuesday’s NXT show. JDC stated “Yeah, it’s a weird hodgepodge because obviously, I do have equity in WWE. I was there 15 years. I played that (Fandango) character for five, seven years. So I think if we completely forget about that and didn’t really touch on that, it would be kind of weird in a way. No pun intended. So I think it was a weird hodgepodge between the character that I used to play and segueing into my new character now, J.D.C., and to your question, it was very emotional for me. I was nervous because I didn’t know how they would react; the fans. You know, nervous going into the Performance where I worked there for years and you haven’t seen some of these guys and girls for four or five years. It was a little nerve-racking but emotional because the reaction was really great and the promo segment was really awesome and I got a lot of respect for Lexis King. I think he’s gonna be a huge star in the business. So all in all, it was just a really emotional and fantastic day for me.” (Transcript h/t: PostWrestling.com)
