Backstage Update on Growing Frustrations Within WWE Women’s Division Over Booking Issues

As noted before, WWE’s women’s locker room reportedly has been growing frustrated over their issues with the booking of the main roster Women’s division in the company. These issues mainly revolve around WWE’s main roster female talent want the booking of the Women’s division to be treated on an even field compared to the booking of male talents. These issues have gone as far as female talents rejecting creative pitches for WrestleMania 41 plans due to them wanting to be in meaningful storylines and not just thrown together for token matches.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources provided additional details regarding the growing frustrations within WWE’s main roster women’s locker room.

Sapp reported that several female talents spoken to reportedly expressed their frustration over the lack of focus on building new contenders, the underdeveloped Women’s Tag Team division, and limited screen time given for those outside of the main event scene. Many of those spoken to reportedly brought up comparisons to NXT where female talents on that brand have been receiving significant more attention and storytelling investment leading to greater audience engagement for them.

Those spoken to reportedly stated their issues with the repetitive nature of storylines within the division with the same talent being prominently featured not only in top-tier feuds but also within the mid-card title scene. Those spoken to reportedly also stated that their frustration is not about certain wrestlers receiving too much time but instead the need for more equitable distribution of opportunities across the whole division.

Sapp reported that Sonya Deville’s departure during contract negotiations have left some female talents uneasy due to she had been told just days prior to her release that WWE had intended to retain her. This reportedly has contributed to the growing uncertainty among talent who feel underutilized over their own futures in the company.

Sapp reported that several wrestlers who have sought clarity on their creative direction where told by WWE officials to be assured that their opportunities will come in time and being encouraged to remain patient.
