Rey Mysterio Comments on Future of His Wrestling Career & Potential WWE Retirement Plans

Rey Mysterio celebrated his 50th birthday on Wednesday.

WWE recently released a new video featuring Mysterio and Kurt Angle watching their 3-on-2 Handicap tag team match from the WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event show in March of 2006. This match featured Mysterio and Angle teaming up with Randy Orton against Triple H and John Cena.

One topic discussed during the video included Mysterio’s thoughts about the future of his wrestling career and potential retirement plans from WWE.

“I’ll let the fans decide.”

Trish Stratus on Future of Her Wrestling Career & Her Potentially Wrestling Outside of WWE

Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown on SI held a recent interview with WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. One of the topics discussed included Stratus’ thoughts about not getting the chance to wrestle Mercedes Mone, former Sasha Banks, during her return run in WWE.

“I really think people never thought I’d ever come back for another match. After the Royal Rumble, it was enough. It was a sizzle real, so to speak, of Trish Stratus and Stratusfaction, which is not easy to pull off, but like, ‘All right. You still got it,’ whatever. But to think of, can she come back after how many years to do a match like 17 years after my retirement, whatever the crazy number is, which is wild, yeah, but then [Mone] left.”

Stratus also gave her thoughts about the potential of her still having a match with Mone outside of WWE.

“Oh, [waves her hands no]. No, I really am a WWE girl all the way, I really am.”

Kevin Owens Comments on His Son’s Current Interest in Pursing Pro Wrestling Career

As noted before, Kevin Owens revealed this past June that his son got in a wrestling ring for the first time and is considering the possibility of following in his father’s footsteps for a career in pro wrestling.

The Daily Mail held a recent interview with Owens. One of the topics discussed included Owens’ thoughts about if his teenage son’s interest in becoming a professional wrestler has grown since this past June.

“No, there is still interest but I am not pushing him to do anything he shouldn’t be doing before it is too soon. I started training when I was 14, had my first match at 16, and while I feel pretty great for my age – I am 40 now and have been doing this for 25 years – I probably could have benefited from waiting a few years and starting my career a little later.

Obviously the circumstances are not the same for him as they were for me, I had no idea where to start and felt like time was against me at any point of my career because you are not getting any younger. You have got to get your name out there.

Now the way things have changed, I know some people that might be able to help him. He is focusing on his school and other stuff, when he really is ready to dive in head first, he has all the tools at his disposal, so I am not rushing him and he is not in a rush either. He is still growing from what I can tell I think, that’s not going away.”
