Backstage: Seth Rollins, Rhea Ripley, Judgement Day, New Day, Alpha Academy, Natalya

Seth “Freakin” Rollins is in the building, fresh off a brawl with CM Punk last week. Rhea Ripley is shown arriving. She will battle Raquel Rodriguez in an Anything Goes Match. Rodriguez is shown arriving with Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan and “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of the New Day arrive. Alpha Academy won’t greet them after New Day turned on Big E last week.

In-Ring: Gunther, Judgement Day, Damian Priest

World Heavyweight Champion Gunther makes his way to the ring. He is 128 days into his reign as the World Heavyweight Champion. Last Monday on Raw, Gunther crushed “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio with a Powerbomb to win a match. After the match, Finn Bálor attacked Gunther and hit him with three Coup de Grâces. They will battle for the World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event, which will be live on NBC.

Gunther says Finn Bálor has made a great mistake. Whether he deserves it or not, Bálor now has Gunther’s undivided attention. Saturday Night’s Main Event will not end up like Survivor Series did.

World Tag Team Champion Finn Bálor heads to the ring with his championship partner JD McDonagh, “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio, and Carlito. Bálor says Gunther could have given him the title match he deserves, but instead, he chose to mess with him and gave it to someone who didn’t deserve it, like “Dirty” Dom. Dom does not seem happy with that remark. Bálor says he is the only reason Gunther is the champion right now. Gunther is right about one thing: Saturday Night’s Main Event is going to be nothing like Survivor Series. At Survivor Series, Gunther retained the title because of Bálor. At Saturday Night’s Main Event, he will lose the title because of Bálor. After eight long years, Finn Bálor will walk out of Saturday Night’s Main Event as the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Gunther says Bálor did not earn the title match. Bálor’s audacity of claiming any responsibility of Gunther being the champion is what earned him the match on Saturday. Gunther knows Bálor is frustrated. Eight years ago, Bálor became the first WWE Universal Champion. At that point in Gunther’s career, he looked up and respected Bálor. Over time, that respect faded. It wasn’t by Gunther’s choice. It was because Bálor cut corners and took shortcuts, aligning himself with the Judgment Day and hanging out with weirdos in a clubhouse. Bálor chose to play second fiddle to Damian Priest. Bálor is not happy. Gunther says they’re standing across from each other with no respect left. Gunther is looking down on him (Bálor is standing at ringside). Eight years ago, Bálor was the best in the world… for one night. Gunther is the best in the world right now and for thousands of days to come. This title proves it. The crowd applauds Gunther. There is one reason Bálor won’t leave as the World Heavyweight Champion on Saturday. Bálor isn’t on Gunther’s level and never will be.

Bálor cannot believe Gunther said that. The Judgment Day gets on the apron. It’s 4-on-1 in favor of the Judgment Day. Damian Priest’s music hits, and a furious Priest charges down to ringside. Priest hits McDonagh and Carlito with a double clothesline on the ramp before sending Mysterio into the barricade. Priest attacks Bálor and fights off the Judgment Day. Bálor grabs Priest, but Priest fights back and sends him into the ring. Gunther grabs Bálor and chops him. Priest then superkicks Bálor out of the ring. Gunther then clotheslines Priest and punches away at him. Gunther is fired up. Gunther sends Priest out of the ring and clears the announce table. Gunther sets up for a Powerbomb on Priest, but Bálor hits Gunther with a Sling Blade on the floor before connecting with a Woo Dropkick into the steps. Bálor attacks Priest and goes to the apron to hit Gunther with a Coup de Grâce.

In the ring, Priest fights off the Judgment Day. At ringside, Bálor takes Gunther down again and attacks Priest in the ring. The Judgment Day attacks Priest in the center of the ring and hold him up. Bálor hits Priest with a Woo Dropkick into the corner. Bálor heads to the top rope and hits a Coup de Grâce. Bálor goes back to the top rope and hits a second Coup de Grâce on Priest. Bálor isn’t finished. He heads back to the top rope for a third Coup de Grâce on Priest! Bálor picks up the World Heavyweight Championship and his Tag Title before holding them both up.

Backstage: The Final Testament

The Final Judgment and The Miz are walking backstage. They’ll battle the Wyatt Sicks next.

Backstage: Judgement Day, Adam Pearce

Finn Bálor is celebrating with the Judgment Day. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce comes up and says this is a courtesy. As a result of the actions, the World Heavyweight Championship match at Saturday Night’s Main Event has changed. It’ll be Finn Bálor versus Gunther… versus Damian Priest. Bálor is not happy, but he says, “Fine.” It’ll make it even more satisfying when he beats Gunther and Priest to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. Pearce says since Bálor is so concerned with titles, he can lead by example. Next Monday, Bálor and JD McDonagh will defend the World Tag Team Championship against the War Raiders. The Judgment Day will be banned from ringside.

Bálor is infuriated as Pearce walks off. Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan sarcastically asks Bálor if he has any advice for them because “when you listen to Finn, you win.” Bálor says he needs a few minutes and walks off.

Lumis and Gacy attack AOP and get them out of the ring. Gacy hits a suicide dive. Lumis comes off the top rope with a trust fall and takes a rough bump on the floor!

Uncle Howdy tags in and runs over Miz with an attack. Howdy avalanches him and hits a hanging neckbreaker. Miz tries to escape and elbows Howday. Kross tags in, but Howdy elbows him in the face and clotheslines him out of the ring. Howdy challenges Kross and hits the ropes, but Scarlett trips him. Sister Abigail appears behind Scarlett and scares her. Scarlett gets in the ring and tries to escape, but Nikki Cross jumps off the steps with a Thesz Press. In the ring, Howdy goes for a Sister Abigail on Kross, but Miz breaks it up. Howdy applies a Mandible Claw to Miz. Paul Ellering appears and throws powder into Howdy’s face! Kross hits Howdy with a Final Prayer for the win!

Winner: The Final Testament & The Miz via Pinfall.

Backstage: CM Punk

Earlier today, Jackie Redmond sat down with CM Punk. She asks about the favor Paul Heyman owes him. Punk says it is a personal thing. Punk goes back years with Heyman. It’s personal. Last week, Punk said he doesn’t think of Seth “Freakin” Rollins at all. How will he handle that? Punk says he won’t shy away from a fight. If you come at him, he’ll swing. Rollins’ hatred of him confuses him. Punk doesn’t hate Rollins. You have to talk about their history. You’re talking about a 16-year-old Rollins coming to Punk and asking him to train him for free. That entitlement has carried over into the adult Seth Rollins, who wants to be the best in the world. Punk remembers a time when Rollins was on the Top 10 list of people to be fired from this place. Punk shielded him from that. If he were in Rollins’ place, Punk would hate him, too. In Punk’s absence, Rollins did a good job filling in. Now, the starter is back. Rollins has to return to the bench.

Video: Damage CTRL, Judgement Day, Rhea Ripley

A video aired recapping last week’s tag team match between Damage CTRL and Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez and post-match brawl with Rhea Ripley.

The bell rings, and Kai quickly takes it to Morgan, hitting her with quick offense before executing a jackknife pin for a two-count. Kai charges her in the corner, but Morgan drops her over the top rope. Kai smashes her face on the steel steps before hitting the floor.

Kai leans her on the ropes and stomps the head for a two-count.

Kai sneers at PFC and lifts Morgan. Morgan slides off, but Kai connects with a nasty Scorpion Kick. Kai then kicks Zoey Stark away and kicks Shayna Baszler down. Kai then counters Ob-Liv-ion into a roll-up for a two-count. Morgan quickly hits a lung blower, followed by a running-high knee in the corner. Morgan comes off the ropes, but Kai powerbombs her out of mid-air. Kai knocks Sonya Deville off the apron. Morgan avoids a kick and hits Ob-Liv-ion for the win.

Winner: Liv Morgan via Pinfall.

PFC starts to triple-team Dakota Kai, but Damage CTRL runs down to even the odds. IYO SKY knocks them out of the ring. Sane then comes off the top rope with a cross-body block to the floor on PFC. Morgan then hits Sky with a vicious Ob-Liv-ion, spiking Sky on the head. Morgan stands over her Saturday Night’s Main Event opponent.

Video: Drew McIntyre

Video: Drew McIntyre says Hell in a Cell was the most violent match of his career. He succumbed to blood loss. McIntyre could have been on Raw after Bad Blood, but he had to go back to Scotland. His family needed him. 2024 should have been his year, but he got screwed time and time again. While he was in Scotland, he wondered if people were right. Then he turned on Survivor Series and saw Roman Reigns standing side by side with CM Punk, along with Sami Zayn, Jimmy, and Jey Uso. They all went back for nothing. At least Punk took a bribe. That’s when he knew he had to come back and take out Sami and Jey. McIntyre cannot change the past but can and will change the present and future.

The commentators say Jey Uso was not medically cleared after McIntyre’s attack last week.

Video: New Day

Video Package: Last week on Raw, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were seemingly going to break up the New Day during their 10-year celebration, but Big E came out to stop them. Kingston and Woods unexpectedly turned on Big E and kicked him out of the New Day, accusing him of leaving them after breaking his neck. They called him selfish, choosing himself over them. Woods said Big E would never be medically cleared. Kingston and Woods then reunited and said it was down to the two of them.

Backstage: Cody Rhodes, New Day

Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Cody Rhodes comes out of Raw General Manager Adam Pearce’s office. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods greet him, but Rhodes says they should be ashamed of themselves. They walk off on Rhodes.

In-Ring: Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, Drew McIntyre

Seth “Freakin” Rollins makes his way to the ring. He welcomes the crowd to Monday Night Rollins. They have a lot to talk about. Rollins tells Wichita to give it up for CM Punk. When Punk’s days are done in the ring, he’s got a career as a politician ahead of him. That interview earlier tonight was a masterclass in spinning the truth. You take a little truth and spin it to make yourself the victim. Punk has been doing that his entire life. Punk is a fraud and a con man. If you want the truth about him and Punk, he’ll give it to them. Rollins did ask Punk to train him. At one time, Punk was the best in the world. Punk helped Rollins get his foot in the door. Rollins respected Punk. They were friends.

If the story ended there, you might wonder why Rollins hates Punk so much. The part of the story Punk left out will tell you why. When CM Punk walked out the doors of this company, he called and texted him as a friend. Rollins got nothing back. Punk ghosted him. It wasn’t just him. It was every person who was friends with him and worked for this company. If you didn’t quit your dream job and your priorities didn’t line up with CM Punk, you were evil. That’s not the end of the story. For the next ten years, all Punk tried to do was tear this company down. Punk took all the potshots he could. Punk only came back because he failed and burned every bridge that could bring him to water. Also, the money was right.

A “CM Punk” chant picks up, and Rollins looks irked. Rollins says he used to chant Punk’s name once upon a time. Somewhere along the way, he realized Punk was a fraud. Rollins wanted to be better than CM Punk. Rollins was. Everything Punk did in the ring, Rollins did twice. Rollins also main evented WrestleMania, unlike Punk.

Sami Zayn makes his way to the ring wearing Jey Uso’s “YEET” shirt. Last week, Zayn accused Rollins of attacking Jey Uso, but it was revealed to be Drew McIntyre. Rollins warns Zayn if he is out there to defend Punk, they’ll start fighting. Zayn says they were both angry last week and fought in the ring. That’s bound to happen every now and then when you’ve known each other as long as they did. Zayn says it was wrong of him to assume Rollins attacked Jey Uso backstage. Zayn apologizes.

Rollins thinks about it and says he’s glad Zayn brought that up. They’ve been friends for twenty years. Their kids play together. When Jey went down, Rollins was the first person to come to his mind. Why? Zayn says Rollins was out of his mind when he was talking last week. That wasn’t the Rollins that Zayn knows. Rollins was talking like he was Drew McIntyre. Rollins is not happy about that. Rollins says, “I am not Drew McIntyre.” Zayn says Rollins is better than McIntyre. This thing with Punk brings out the worst in Rollins. Zayn knows he shouldn’t have gotten involved with Rollins and Punk. He’s here to let Rollins know that it’s his business and he can deal with it however he wants. Rollins says that’s all he wanted. Zayn asks if they’re good. Rollins thinks about it. A light “Hug it out” chant picks up. Rollins says, “Yeah, Sami, we’re good, man.” Rollins says he appreciates Zayn letting him handle his business with Punk. Zayn has business with McIntyre that he needs to handle.

Rollins leaves Zayn in the ring. Zayn says that’s pretty good advice. Zayn is going to handle business with McIntyre. Zayn isn’t going to listen to McIntyre complain about how he’s a martyr. This will end as quickly as it started. Zayn already spoke to Adam Pearce. At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Sami Zayn will be taking on Drew McIntyre.

Zayn leaves the ring and heads up the ramp. Drew McIntyre blindsides Zayn and punches away at him. WWE officials quickly break it up and pull McIntyre off Zayn.

WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship Tournament First Round Triple Threat Match
Ivy Nile vs. Zelina Vega vs. Lyra Valkyria

We come back from the break to see Valkyria hit Nile and Vega with a baseball slide. Valkyria gets Nile in the ring and connects with a tornado DDT, followed by a fisherman’s suplex for a near fall. Valkyria lifts Nile, but Nile counters into an armbar. Valkyria counters with a roll-up for a two-count. They tussle around before Zelina Vega takes about seven thousand years to jump onto them.

Vega soon hits Nile with a sliding sunset flip bomb on the floor. Vega hits Valkyria with a meteora, but Nile breaks it up. Nile puts Vega in the corner and catches her attempting a cross-body. Nile slams Vega and covers, but Valkyria breaks it up. Nile hits Valkyria and Vega with a double German Suplex. Nile covers Valkyria for a two-count. Nile hits a high-angle back suplex on Valkyria for a two-count. Vega hits Nile with Code Red, but Valkyria breaks it up. Valkyria hits Nile with Night Wing for the win.

Winner: Lyra Valkyria via Pinfall.

Backstage: Terror Twins

Rhea Ripley is warming up. Damian Priest walks up to her and says, “Eradicate.”

In-Ring: New Day

Cathy Kelley is backstage with the New Day. She asks about their intention to publicly berate their friend, Big E. Kofi Kingston says she’s supposed to be a neutral party. Xavier Woods says this isn’t going to be unbiased, so they’ll speak to the people. Woods takes a camera and walks out into the arena with Kingston by his side.

The New Day heads to the ring, and the crowd loudly boos them and chants, “New Day sucks.” Woods and Kingston seem genuinely confused. Kingston says that after the 10 years of positivity they’ve given them, they’re mad over one day. The crowd is LOUDLY booing them. Woods begins to speak, but he’s booed down. Woods looks disgusted. The crowd chants, “We want Big E.” Woods says they didn’t do anything to Big E. Kingston says they could have taken a steel chair to Big E’s back or a sledgehammer to his neck. The crowd loudly boos them. Woods tries to speak, but he’s booed down. Woods throws the microphone down, and they leave to loud cheers. Woods and Kingston cannot believe the people are booing them.

Ripley bounces her off the barricade and sits her in a chair. Ripley chops away at Rodriguez and sends her to ringside. Ripley throws a trash can into Rodriguez’s face and gets her in the ring.

Ripley goes under the ring and starts to pull a table out. Rodriguez attacks Ripley from behind and sends her into the steps. Rodriguez then hits Ripley with a fallaway slam over the announce table!

We are back from the final break of the evening to see Ripley and Rodriguez wipe each other out in the middle of the ring. They get up, and Ripley hits a short-arm clothesline. Ripley kicks her in the head, throws a chair at her, and kicks it into Rodriguez’s face. Ripley charges, but Rodriguez knees her in the face. Rodriguez connects with an alley-oop into the corner for a near fall. Rodriguez sets up a chair, but Ripley escapes. Ripley slams Rodriguez onto the chair (sort of) and makes up for the errant slam with a chair to the midsection for a two-count.

Rodriguez appears to be bleeding from the eye. Ripley stacks some chairs. Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan runs down for a distraction. Rodriguez attacks Ripley and sets up a chair with the legs up. Rodriguez goes for a slam, but Ripley gets out and tries for a Riptide. Morgan breaks it up and eventually hits Ob-Liv-ion. IYO SKY runs down and hits Morgan with a springboard missile dropkick, followed by a WILD suicide dive. In the ring, Rodriguez goes for a cover, but Ripley kicks out. Rodriguez sets up a table as they speed through the “Tonight’s Headlines” graphics. Ripley gets out of a Tejana Bomb and sends her headfirst into a chair wedged in the corner. Ripley hits Riptide through the table for the win.

Winner: Rhea Ripley via Pinfall.

Ripley and Sky both grab the Women’s World Championship and look at each other.
