Athena Expels Lexy Nair from MIT on Thursday’s ROH TV Show

Thursday’s ROH TV Boxing Day Brawl show for Ring of Honor featured ROH ring announcer Lexy Nair being expelled from MIT (Minions In Training).

During the show, Nair was seen in the ring and introduced everyone to the MIT Expulsion ceremony. Nair then introduced Billie Starkz first, who looked unhappy, and ROH Women’s World Champion Athena, who looked gleeful, out to the ring.

Athena talked about her having another historic victory as ROH Women’s Champion and then turned her attention towards Starkz. Athena talked about all the problems they have had with Starkz of late. Athena then turned her attention towards Nair and praised Nair’s work and stated that she has made her decision. Athena first looked at Starkz and then looked at Nair and stated to Starkz it was just them for now on. Athena then expelled Nair criticizing her poor ring introduction at Final Battle 2024 for her match, not wearing the Penguin costume as instructed to go along with her Two-Face entrance, and for nearly costing her the match when she dropped a microphone. This led to a sad Nair leaving the ring and Starkz looking confused and dismayed over what just happened. Athena then told Starkz that they would be together forever and embraced her in the ring as Starkz gave a confused reaction before the two left the ring.

Matt Cardona recently issued an open challenge to anyone for a match at Game Changer Wrestling’s The People vs. GCW event on January 19, 2025 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, New York.

In a recent interview with Fightful, GCW owner Brett Lauderdale gave his thoughts about the process when it comes to naming events in his company. Lauderdale stated “The real answer is a lot of them are just names of songs that I like or albums or whatever. Every once in a while there may be a, like the people versus GCW, that’s an original name. It’s not just a song I picked. There’s a few that have original or I guess unoriginal, depending on how you look at it. But most of them are song titles. At this point, a lot of them are starting to get reused because I ran out of songs. That’s the true answer.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent interview with the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast, former TNA talent Mustafa Ali gave his thoughts about how he filmed content for a storyline angle with “Speedball” Mike Bailey in TNA Wrestling that was later dropped due to issues revolving around then U.S. Presidential candidate’s Donald Trump assassination attempt incident. Ali stated “In TNA, I had a feud going on with Mike Bailey. Weeks, and I’m talking weeks before a real life event happened, we came up with this idea where after I’d been torturing Mike Bailey for weeks, I’m beating up his friends and stuff like that. I’m pulling up into the arena in an SUV and I have a campaign manager with me, Campaign Singh. I’m like, ‘These idiot voters, they love me, watch this.’ He’s like, ‘Sir, I don’t think that’s a good’ — ‘Shut up, they love me.’ We have all these fans [cheering] and I’m shaking their hand. As I’m shaking their hand, appears Mike Bailey within this crowd. Mike Bailey grabs him by the throat, he’s trying to pull me out of the SUV, secret service jumps on him and I’m like, ‘Drive, drive, drive.’ We drive away, later that night in a promo, I say, ‘Mike Bailey tried to attack me in what the public has deemed an assassination attempt.’” Ali continued stating “We tape it. The week that’s going to go live, which is a Thursday, earlier that week, the incident happens with Trump, the assassination attempt. So I’m sitting watching this, ‘Oh no.’ Some people had nothing to do with it, right? A genuine coincidence. So I have to text TNA like, ‘Guys, I don’t—’ because some people are gonna think we’re parodying it or making fun of it. No matter how you feel about someone, death is death. I personally don’t wish death upon anybody. So, I made the call like, ‘Hey, I think we should edit this.’ We ended up editing that part out, you know? It just goes to show you the volatile and sensitive nature of this character. I’ve just got to evaluate it and see if it’s something I want to continue doing long-term because of an incident like that.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
