Scott D’Amore Comments on His Goal for Maple Leaf Pro to be “Heart of Canadian Wrestling”
Undisputed held a recent interview with Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling owner Scott D’Amore. One of the topics discussed included D’Amore’s thoughts about his goal for Maple Leaf Pro to become the “heart of Canadian wrestling.
“We are going to be the heart of Canadian wrestling and a force in the global wrestling landscape.
This is a way to honor tradition of the past and forge a new path for Canadian wrestling. I’m proud of my time at TNA, and I hold my head high for what we accomplished there in my time at the helm. We took a company from death’s doorstep and revived it into an exciting and viable alternative. Now we are going to focus that hard work, vision, and passion into Maple Leaf Pro.”
D’Amore also gave his thoughts about the advantage Maple Leaf Pro will have when it comes to booking foreign-based talents for shows.
“The immigration laws in Canada allow non-Canadians to come perform and compete, which allows our Canadian talent to be in the ring with the very best in the world. This helps both Canadian and other international talent show major United States companies that they can be valuable members of those rosters, as well as build their resume to better qualify for a US work visa when those opportunities present themselves.”
D’Amore also gave his thoughts about the possibility of Maple Leaf Pro working together with WWE in the future.
“We are very happy and excited about our existing partners. But we have an open-door policy. If WWE wants to join the party, we’d be open to exploring it.”
D’Amore also gave his thoughts about how their recent Forged In Excellence events were meant to be a proof of concept for what Maple Leaf Pro will be as a wrestling company.
“Forged in Excellence was our mission statement, our proof of concept for what Maple Leaf Pro is going to be. The plan all along was to come out and have two nights of an amazing debut to show people what MLP is all about. Now we’ve taken a step back to set up our infrastructure, and we’ll be ready and prepared for an unbelievable 2025.”
Tony Schiavone Comments on the Moment When He Knew WCW Couldn’t Be Fixed
A recent episode of the What Happened When with Tony Schiavone podcast featured co-host Tony Schiavone giving his thoughts about if there was one moment or match when he knew WCW could not be fixed as a company.
“Yeah, I think it’s the Sting/Hogan match. I think I thought that if Hogan was able to change around the finish from what we knew was right, then we had no chance. By the time David Arquette won the world title, we were beyond being fixed. I think it’s Sting not winning the world title cleanly over Hogan. If you go back and watch it, it is a fucked up thing man.”
