Hiroshi Tanahashi Issues Lumberjack Stip for His Match with EVIL at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19

Sunday’s World Tag League 2024 Finals event for New Japan Pro Wrestling in Makashi, Japan featured one updated match for the card of Wrestle Kingdom 19.

This new updated match was a Lumberjack match of Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. EVIL.

This match was setup following House of Torture’s victory over Jado, Tomoaki Honma, Boltin Oleg, Toru Yano, & Tanahashi in a 10-Man Tag Team match. Near the end of the match, HoT attempted their usual cheating antics only for Tanahashi to turn the tables and furiously attacked EVIL and the rest of HoT with a chair causing the disqualification result.

Following the match ending, Tanahashi refused to stop his attack and was even given a new chair by Yano to use to continue on. After some time, Tanahashi was eventually separated by several Young Lions allowing EVIL the chance to leave the ring.

Tanahashi then grabbed a microphone and gave some heated words talking about if EVIL wants to retire him that badly at Wrestle Kingdom 19, then he will give him that chance. Tanahashi then issued a challenge for their match to be held as a Lumberjack match and he would put his career on the line.

Hiromu Takahashi & Tetsuya Naito Wins World Tag League 2024 Tournament

Sunday’s NJPW World Tag League 2024 event also featured Los Ingobernables De Japon’s Hiromu Takahashi & Tetsuya Naito defeating Bullet Club War Dogs’ SANADA & Gabe Kidd to become the winners of this year’s World Tag League tournament.

This was Takahasi and Naito’s first World Tag League tournament victory in their NJPW careers.

Tetsuya Naito vs. Hiromu Takahashia Set for Wrestle Kingdom 19

Sunday’s NJPW World Tag League 2024 event also featured one new potential match for the card of Wrestle Kingdom 19, which takes place on January 4, 2025 at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan.

This new potential match is a singles match of Tetsuya Naito vs. Hiromu Takahashi.

This match was setup following LIJ’s Naito & Takahashi’s victory over Bullet Club War Dogs in the Finals of this year’s World Tag League tournament. Following the match, Naito gave a victory speech talking about their tournament victory and him and Takahashi working as a team. Naito then talked about instead of challenging for the IWGP World Tag titles, how about the one thing Hiromu has wanted from him for quite some time. Naito asked Takahashi about finally having that singles match against each other at Wrestle Kingdom 19. Takaahshi responded accepting the match and gave his thanks to Naito.
