Rumor Killer on Oba Femi Getting Called Up Soon to WWE’s Main Roster
Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan reported that his sources within WWE’s NXT brand denied recent rumors of NXT talent Oba Femi being called up soon to WWE’s main roster.
This rumor originated from a recent report from PWN’s Marc who claimed that Femi had been seen giving his goodbyes to others backstage following this past Sunday’s NXT Halloween Havoc 2024 event. Marc also had reported that Femi was believed to be heading to WWE’s RAW roster and could potentially debut as early as this past Monday’s RAW show, which did not happen.
Brennan reported that those spoken to within NXT stated that they did not hear about Femu saying his goodbyes backstage after his loss to Tony D’Angelo in a Tables, Ladders, & Scares match at the event. Those spoken to reportedly also stated that they current expect Femi to remain in NXT for the time being.
WWE officials reportedly currently view Femi as a potential future WWE Champion and those within NXT had stated that they had believed that Femi was next in line for the NXT Championship after Trick Williams. In regards to the NXT title, Brenann reported that this is something he has yet to confirm from his sources.
Brennan reported that those spoken to also stated that when a NXT Superstar says their farewells to the brand, the news is rarely kept as a secret and usually videos are posted on social media. Brennan reported that this was the case with Bron Breakker when he was filmed after his final match on the brand.

In a recent interview with Shaklel Mahjouri, Bo Dallas gave his thoughts about how he and his late brother Bray Wyatt signed their contracts with WWE for their returns to the company around the same time. Dallas stated
“We (myself & Windham Rotunda) decided we wanted to come back and work together for the first time. That was our idea that we wanted to do that but if we were coming back, we were going to come back as a team. So, initially, that was the idea and then we started talking to the company and some things happened and we kind of signed around the same time but we kind of got word that maybe they didn’t want us to be together and we had already had a bunch of ideas to go forward, so, I started working on other stuff and then some stuff happened and then I got the call — don’t know when — that essentially, all of our ideas that we had previously talked about a month or two prior or even longer, that’s what they wanted to do and we were getting the chance to work together so like, I don’t know when it happened. Kind of got excited and then sad and then overly excited when I got the news, like, ‘It’s actually happening’ so, I don’t know the timeline of it but that’s kind of the bullet points of ups and downs.” (Transcript h/t: PostWrestling.com)
In a recent interview with the Vegas Revealed podcast, Cody Rhodes gave his thoughts about him winning the Undisputed WWE Championship and him trying to be a leader by example in WWE. Rhodes stated “It’s crazy. It’s a dream come true. It’s all you ever wanted, and for me, it’s what I wanted my whole career, but there are elements of responsibility that came with it, that I’m not saying I wasn’t mature enough or I wasn’t ready for it, but it’s almost like you become a defacto member of the office. That’s been a little different for me. One thing I love leaning into is the leadership element to it. The show really goes down based on what the WWE Champion is doing. For me, I like that. There are so many young talent coming up from NXT. I like trying to be a leader and I try to be a leader by example. Right now, WWE is in this incredibly prolific era. I’m very lucky to be along for the ride.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
In a recent virtual fan signing event for K&S WrestleFest, former WWE talent Bobby Lashley gave his thoughts about how his time with Hurt Business in WWE was the most fun he has had so far in his wrestling career. Lashley stated “It was my most fun time. Hurt Business was awesome because MVP was not in WWE at the time. Before, I was like, let me think of something I can do. I like the character where it was a mix of Suge Knight, Don King, and The Rock in (Ballers). If you took all those characters and squeezed them all together, that’s what I wanted to do. I wanted to do something where I’m managing people but being tough and fighting. The Rumble came and [MVP] walked in, I was like, ‘That’s him.’ When I was fighting, my boxing coach wore a shirt that had Hurt Business. I always thought the name was cool. When I get back into wrestling, I want to do the Hurt Business. I pulled Shelton aside and was like, ‘I really want to do this.’ I involved P [MVP] and we started talking about it. I called my boxing coach and out of respect, ‘Hurt Business, I want to use that in pro wrestling.’ He was like, ‘Done. Deal.’ When the shirts were made, I sent him a t-shirt.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
In a separate recent interview with The Lame Guys Podcast, Bobby Lashley also gave his thoughts about an idea for a feud with Gunther that he had during their time together in WWE. Lashley stated “When GUNTHER was rolling, I was like, man, it would have been cool and you know what? There was one thing I wanted to do with him and everybody would have been like, ooouuu, because if we were still The Hurt Business and I was like, I wanna roll up on him and I want GUNTHER to say, people like you don’t deserve a chance at my title, and people would have been like, what did he say? Because we would have towed that line, because if you think about the German… and then these Black dudes… Is there a little bit of racial tension a little bit there? We don’t even have to go there because we would have been like, woah, woah, woah, woah, woah. What do you mean by people like you? He can be like, older guys in wrestling or something like that. But the crowd would have been like, uh! Did he say that? And then I was gonna say, I think you look familiar and do one of these (gesture of fixing GUNTHER’s mustache). There it is! But I don’t know if we could have went there but if we could have, it would’ve been the best. But there were so many things that you could kind of toe the line with and that could have been just a huge feud, huge feud; for The Hurt Business and them, The Hurt Business and The Bloodline. I think we dropped the ball on a lot of those things. It is what it is… But, if they’re not going that direction, they don’t have to go that direction but, I think we dropped the ball on a few of those.” (Transcript h/t: PostWrestling.com)
