AEW: Backstage Update on Plans for Recent AEW World Title Changes in 2024, New MAX Related Trademarks, AEW Music Producer Mikey Rukus Reportedly Signed New Deal

Backstage Update on AEW’s Plans for Recent AEW World Title Changes in 2024

AEW officials reportedly never had any actual plans for Darby Allin to beat Bryan Danielson for the AEW World Championship, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

While there had been earlier rumors of AEW having plans for Allin to win the AEW World Championship this year, Dave Meltzer reported that his sources stated that this was actual never the case and instead AEW officials had a secret plan in place for their title changes this year.

Meltzer reported that this secret plan always had Jon Moxley being the one to beat Danielson for the title and for Moxley to do it as a heel. Meltzer also reported that the title changing hands from Swerve Strickland to Danielson and then to Moxley had been planned out prior to Moxley winning the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship earlier this year. Only AEW CEO Tony Khan, Danielson, Moxley, and Allin reportedly had knowledge of this secret plan.

Meltzer also reported that Danielson originally did not want to win the title but Khan talked him into it due to him feeling that him winning the title would be the best possible moment for the end of their All In 2024 event. Danielson reportedly was the one who chose WrestleDream 2024 to be the end date for his title reign while Moxley was the one who came up with the idea for his heel turn and new direction for the Blackpool Combat Club.

AEW Files Several New MAX-related Trademarks

AEW recently filed several new trademarks to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
