AEW: Adam Cole on Needing Cadaver Bone in Ankle Over Severity of His Ankle Injury, Start Date Revealed for Continental Classic 2024, Powerhouse Hobbs

Adam Cole Comments on Needing Cadaver Bone in His Ankle Over Severity of His Ankle Injury

As noted before, Adam Cole made his surprise return from injury to AEW at their WrestleDream 2024 event earlier this month in Tacoma, Washington. Prior to his return, Cole had been out of action since September of 2023 due to an ankle injury.

Sports Illustrated held a recent interview with Cole. One of the topics discussed included Cole revealing that his injury was so severe that he required a cadaver bone to be put in his leg during surgery to repair his ankle.

“The first piece of news that I heard was, your ankle is way worse than we anticipated. You have to get another surgery in seven days.

So, not only did I have to get double the amount of screws in my ankle, but also, I had to get someone else’s bone put into my ankle because the bone piece within my ankle just completely disintegrated.

Incredibly thankful to [the donor] and the family. It’s certainly a better option. I definitely notice a difference in my left ankle as opposed to my right one, but I think that comes with the territory.”

Cole also gave his thoughts about him not feeling limited in his range of motions for his leg following his surgery and recovery.

“I still feel like I can be Adam Cole and do the things that I wanna do. And I’m certainly not even close to wanting to be done with wrestling.”

Cole also gave an update on his current storyline status with the Undisputed Kingdom for his feud with MJF.

“I know that Roddy, Mike, and Matt have been very insistent on wanting to be involved. I don’t know if I want them involved or not. Time will tell, but right now, I feel like leaving them out of the situation is incredibly important for me and my closure with Max.”

Start Date Revealed for Continental Classic 2024 Tournament

Foundation Radio held a recent interview with Mark Briscoe. One of the topics discussed included Briscoe revealing that this year’s AEW Continental Classic tournament will be officially starting on the Thanksgiving Eve episode of AEW Dynamite on November 27th.

“Continental Classic season is coming up. Thanksgiving Eve, that’s the start of the Continental Classic. With [Kazuchika] Okada being the current Continental Champion, he’s the focal point. He’s the target. I feel like the Continental Classic last year was in a way, in my singles career, it was almost like a coming out party. It was like I got a chance to wrestle four guys in my block. I don’t think anybody knew what I could do in singles competition. I didn’t really make out too well in the wins and the losses, but I learned, so I didn’t lose. I learned. I’m either going to win, or I’m going to learn. Ain’t no losing, you understand? I’m looking forward to it, man. I’m looking forward to hopefully being in the Continental Classic this year. But one way or the other, I would love to take on Okada, and I would love to have a Ring of Honor strap here, Continental title here. I think that would look good on me.”

Powerhouse Hobbs AEW Return Status Update

As noted before, Powerhouse Hobbs has been out of action for AEW since this past April due to a knee injury but was recently medically cleared for an in-ring return.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that several readers recently contacted him stating that Hobbs was seen in Salt Lake City on Tuesday ahead of AEW’s Dynamite show in the city later tonight.

Johnson reported that this does not mean that Hobbs will be making his on-screen return during tonight’s show due to he had been backstage at several recent AEW and ROH events while he was out of action and instead only confirms that he is in town for the taping.
