More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for September 18th

The September 18th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a slight increase in key demographic ratings but suffered a small decline in overall viewership.

AEW drew 687,000 viewers and a 0.22 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 2nd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s mixed results was due to the stiff competition from the season premiere of Survivor and the large decline from their Over 50 demographic viewership group, which its percentage was not given. This reportedly offset the gains from their younger key demographic group, which was up 4.7% compared to last week’s show, and older key demographic viewership group, which its percentage was not given. Meltzer reported that AEW’s lead-in programming Big Bang Theory drew 809,000 viewers and a 0.10 key demographic rating, which was the second lowest number for a show since Dynamite’s debut on TBS.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the Survivor season premiere drew 4,721,000 viewers on CBS, the Donald Trump interview special of Gutfeld drew 4,894,000 viewers on FOX News, the MLB Showcase game drew 224,000 viewers on MLB Network, Expedition X drew 798,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, The Challenge drew 406,000 viewers on MTV, and Real Housewives of Salt Lake City drew 375,000 viewers on BRAVO.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 301,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s male/female viewership skew was 68.9% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 30.2% in overall viewership and down 35.8% in key demographic viewership. AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 46.4% compared to the same week last year. Meltzer reported that the reason for the large declines was due to last year’s show was the Dynamite Grand Slam 2023 special.

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for September 13th

The September 13th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a small increase in overall viewership but suffered a slight decline in key demographic ratings.

AEW drew 250,000 viewers and a 0.07 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night is currently not known.

Detailed key demographic viewership breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s mixed results that week was due to the large gain from their Over 50 demographic viewership group, which its percentage was not given. This reportedly mostly offset the stiff sports competition that night, WWE’s SmackDown show having an overrun for its season premiere and return show to USA Network, and the large decline from their overall key demographic viewership group, which was down 11.4% compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that the main reason for Rampage’s lower than usual first quarter viewership was likely due to WWE’s SmackDown show running longer than usual that night and ate into a chunk of Rampage’s quarter hour.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, College football game of Arizona vs. Kansas State drew 2,582,000 viewers on FOX, the College football game of UNLV vs. Kansas drew 1,234,000 viewers on ESPN, the WNBA game of Las Vegas Aces vs. Indiana Fever drew 1,200,000 viewers on ION, On Patrol Live drew 695,000 viewers on REELZ Channel, and 90 Day Fiance First Look drew 403,000 viewers on TLC.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 98,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 64.3% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 25.4% in overall viewership and down 19.7% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 key demographic viewership was down 20% compared to the same week last year.

More on AEW Collision Viewership for September 14th

The September 14th episode of AEW Collision saw AEW gain a very large increase in overall viewership and a small gain in key demographic ratings but suffered a small decline in key demographic rankings. That week’s show was notable for Collision return to its normal Saturday night timeslot following the prior week’s show airing on a Friday and going head-to-head against WWE’s SmackDown show.

AEW drew 268,000 viewers and a 0.08 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 25th place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the large gain from their Over 50 demographic viewership group and overall key demographic viewership group, which its percentages were not given. This reportedly offset the very stiff sports competition that night from College football and UFC’s 306 event. Meltzer reported that Collision’s overall viewership was the lowest ever and its key demographic viewership was the second lowest ever for a Collision show in its regular timeslot.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the College football game of Georgia vs. Kentucky drew 6,600,000 viewers on ABC, the College football game of Colorado vs. Colorado State drew 3,248,000 viewers on CBS, the College football game of Indiana vs. UCLA drew 1,290,000 viewers on NBC, the College football game of UCF vs. TCU drew 1,030,000 viewers on FOX, and the College football game of Texas-San Antonio vs. Texas drew 1,480,000 viewers on ESPN, and On Patrol Live drew 706,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 112,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 26,000 viewers, Females 18-34 had 16,000 viewers, Males 35-49 had 54,000 viewers, and Females 35-49 had 16,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 71.4% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 42.6% in overall viewership and down 44% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was up 20% compared to the same week last year.
