Will Ospreay Comments on the Respect He Has for Kenny Omega

Inside The Ropes Magazine held a recent interview with Will Ospreay. One of the topics discussed included Ospreay’s thoughts about the respect he has for Kenny Omega for his impact on AEW’s identity and the wrestling industry.

“I think he represents the identity of what AEW initially was. He didn’t need the machine to make himself a big superstar, he made himself a star along with The Bucks, along with Hangman, and everyone else that helped to set up the company. There was an identity about AEW that was different to what American TV was accustomed to.

Those guys really set the bar for what wrestling could look like. It could have a different image and it could have a different identity. Especially when it comes to TV-style wrestling. Those guys completely shifted what it looked like to be TV wrestlers. He’s one of the best and I give him all the flowers in the world, but that doesn’t mean I like him [laughs]. Other than that, he’s a prick.”

Jim Ross on Kevin Kelly & Tate Twins Defamation Lawsuit Against AEW, Kevin Kelly Responds

As noted before, former AEW commentator Kevin Kelly and former AEW/ROH talents The Boys (Brandon & Brent Tate) filed a defamation lawsuit last week against AEW, AEW CEO Tony Khan, and AEW/ROH commentator Ian Riccaboni.

A recent episode of the Grilling JR podcast featured co-host Jim Ross giving this thoughts about Kelly and the Tate Twins recent defamation lawsuit against AEW and his belief that this lawsuit is frivolous.

“When you sign your contract, you agree to the terms. That would include being an independent contractor. I’ll say this. The plaintiffs, Kevin Kelly and those guys, they’ll run out of money before Tony Khan does. I don’t hold out much hope they’re going to get any kind of settlement, whatsoever. Maybe I’m wrong. I’m not a judge or lawyer or anything along those lines. I don’t like those kind of lawsuits. I think they’re frivolous. You would think guys would get together and work out something before going to spend their money on a lawyer, who is probably doing it, ‘If you win, you get this. If you don’t win, no harm, no foul.’ There is harm and there is foul. You knew what you were doing when you signed your deal. I’m not familiar with the two wrestlers. I know who they are. Kevin Kelly is an old friend of mine for years. I was sad to see him leave the way he did. He just wasn’t happy. I think he wanted a bigger role that wasn’t available to him. Then, all of a sudden, he’s gone. It’s unfortunate, it’s sad. He has a lot to offer. As far the independent contractor thing being thrown out and overruled, I don’t hold any hope for that to happen

Following the release of the podcast episode, Kelly responded on Twitter to Ross’ comments about his and the Tate Twins lawsuit against AEW and his claims that he wanted to settle this fairly and quietly with AEW but they left us no choice.
