AEW: Mercedes Mone Confirmed Megan Thee Stallion Talks for Partnership Deal, Jim Ross Says He Will Be on Commentary for AEW Grand Slam, Jay White Foot Injury Update

As noted before, a partnership deal between Mercedes Mone and rapper Megan Thee Stallion had been expected for AEW prior to Stallion’s deal with WWE for her “Neva Play” song to be the new theme song for WWE SmackDown.

In a recent issues of the Mone Mag fan newsletter, Mone confirmed that she had been in talks with Stallion for a potential partnership deal involving AEW. Mone also blamed herself for why this partnership deal fell apart due to WWE securing a deal with Stallion before she could.

Meg Thee Stallion & Me

Sports Illustrated and other sources reported on conversations between my advocate Kev, and Meg’s manager, Mike B., regarding her and me doing stuff at AEW. It’s true. A few weeks ago in an interview, I made the mistake of teasing the idea, which made headlines. More recently, it was announced that Meg would be part of the new Smackdown theme. It could all be a coincidence, of course. But then, they don’t call me the blueprint for nothing. In hindsight, I should have kept my mouth shut about it but all you can do is live and learn. I’m flattered and honored in a way, as it proves we are clearly on the right path. While I would have loved to work with Meg and would have loved to see her work with our brand, I’m still happy for her. She’s a great person and talent who will get exposure to the vast wrestling audience. Trust in this, AEW and Team Moné have a lot more brewing so it’s all good. You all will just have to wait this time to hear about it. ;)

“I was told yesterday I’m doing the Arthur Ashe event, which will always be fun. It’s a unique setting, unique surroundings, so I’m looking forward to that. Loaded card as you can see there, a lot of talent on this card.”

Ross also stated that he will also be working in commentary at AEW’s WrestleDream 2024 event next month in Tacoma, Washington.

“So I’ll be going to New York for that show. I’m not sure how much I’m doing, but I think I’m doing more than normal. Then I’m going to go to Seattle and call the pay-per-view. I think my schedule is getting more aggressive and I’m being used more, but I’m excited for it.”
