AEW Dynamite Notes: AEW Trios Titles Match Set for Dynamite Grand Slam 2024, Mina Shirakawa Responds to Mariah May, Ricochet vs. Ospreay for AEW International Title Set for Dynamite 5 Year Anniversary Show, 9/21 Collision Card

AEW Trios Titles Open Challenge Match Announced for AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2024

Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show featured one new match announced for the card of next week’s Dynamite Grand Slam 2024 show on September 25th at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York.

This new match announced was an AEW World Trios Championship Open Challenge match of mystery team vs. Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta) & PAC (c).

This match was setup following a backstage promo segment involving Castagnoli & PAC calling out Yuta stating that they need him to show up next week with his AEW Trios title since they have a Trios title defense next week. Jon Moxley & Marina Shafir showed up and Moxley stated that Yuta is a grown man and can do what he wants. Moxley then stated that Yuta needs to look in the mirror and be the man he was taught to be.

In a follow-up segment, Yuta was interviewed backstage by Alex Marvez as he was trying to leave the venue. Yuta responded to Castagnoli, PAC, and Moxley’s comments talking about how he has been conflicted on recent events and has been distracted. This led to an AEW official showing up and handed Yuta his AEW Trios title that he stated Yuta left in the locker room. Yuta grabbed his title and stated that he takes pride in the Trios Championship and will kick whose ever ass he has to at Grand Slam.

In another follow-up segment, Private Party were interviewed backstage by Marvez who stated that BCC’s title defense would be an open challenge match. Quen & Kassidy accepted the challenge and Kassidy called out Moxley over what his group did to them and Komander last week.

In another follow-up segment, Moxley, Castagnoli, & Shafir came out through the crowd for Moxley’s scheduled promo time only to be jumped by Private Party in the crowd area. This led to a brawl breaking out that Moxley and his group managed to quickly get the upper hand. After some more attacks, Komander ran out from the crowd and into the ring. Komander attempted to hit a dive to Castagnoli who countered with an European Uppercut laying out Komander. Moxley and his pals continued their attack on Private Party and Komander that ended with Moxley grabbing a hammer and striking Kassidy’s hand with it before his group left.

Mina Shirakawa Responds to Mariah May Wanting Her Back in AEW

Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show also Mina Shirakawa responding to “The Glamour” Mariah May wanting her back in AEW for her AEW Women’s Championship celebration ceremony.

During the show, a video aired featuring Shirakawa responding to May’s request and stated May has changed since the last time she was around in AEW and isn’t sure she likes who May has become. Shirakawa stated that she still misses May and talked about the good times they had together before. Shirakawa stated for AEW fans to get ready since Mina is coming.


Ricochet vs. Will Ospreay for AEW International Title Set for Dynamite 5 Year Anniversary Show

Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show also featured one new match announced for the card of AEW Dynamite 5 Year Anniversary Show, which takes place on October 2nd at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

This new match announced was an AEW International Championship match of Ricochet vs. Will Ospreay (c).

This match was initially setup in recent weeks over Ospreay being happy over Ricochet being in AEW and wanting a match between the two for the first time in a long while but not before Ricochet racks up some wins first. During tonight’s show, Ricochet was prepared to be interviewed backstage about his win over The Beast Mortos only to be quickly interrupted by Ospreay. Ospreay stated that there is always heat between them but he apologizes for what happened last week. Ricochet responded accepting the apology and stated that he is doing what Ospreay said for him to do, getting his wins up. Ricochet stated that everyone is coming after him more than he is worried about them. Ricochet then stated they are more worried about Ricochet than Ospreay, which isn’t the case for him. Ricochet revealed that he got his match against Ospreay for the AEW International title at AEW’s Dynamite 5 Year Anniversary show on October 2nd. Ricochet stated that Ospreay might be on another level but he is out of this world. Ricochet then told Ospreay that he will see him real soon “little bro.”

This new match announced was an All Star 10-Man Tag Team match of FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood), HOOK, & The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd) vs. Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson), Roderick Strong, RUSH &, The Beast Mortos.

This match was setup following a video airing featuring the fallout from FTR & Grizzled Young Vets tag match at last week’s Collision show and Strong & HOOK’s interaction from tonight’s Dynamite show.
