HOOK Retires FTW Title at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2024
Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2024 show at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York featured HOOK officially retiring the FTW Championship.
Following his victory over Roderick Strong to retain the FTW title, HOOK went to Tony Schiavone at ringside for a post-match interview. HOOK first thanked Schiavone and stated that all good things must come to an end. HOOK praised all of those who have held and competed for the title and announced that the FTW Championship is now officially retired. HOOK then handed the title to his father Taz and the two embraced in a hug. HOOK then left making his way back to the stage for one last ovation from the crowd.

Rocky Romero Officially Joins The Conglomeration on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2024 Show
Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2024 show featured Rocky Romero becoming the new official member of The Conglomeration.
During the show, The Conglomeration and Romero were seen backstage with Renee Paquette. Paquette introduced the two separately before being interrupted by Orange Cassidy who announced that there is no more need to announce Romero’s name separate from the group since he is now an official member of it.
Following Cassidy’s announcement, Mark Briscoe spoke next talking about their upcoming match against The Learning Tree at AEW’s Collision Grand Slam 2024 show and promised to whoop all of their asses.

MVP Makes Surprise AEW Debut on Wednesday’s Dynamite Grand Slam 2024 Show
Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2024 show also featured former WWE talent MVP making his surprise AEW debut appearance.
During the show, Prince Nana came out to the stage for an interview with Tony Schiavone to provide an update on the status of Swerve Strickland since his Lights Out Steel Cage match against Hangman Adam Page at AEW All Out 2024. Nana stated that Strickland is not cleared to compete but Swerve is working towards making it happen and looks forward to coming back.

Before Nana could say anything else, MVP interrupted and made his surprise appearance. MVP introduced himself to the crowd and talked about Strickland’s run with the AEW World Championship and all of the men Strickland defeated. MVP then talked about Swerve’s childhood home being burned down and the man that did it is still walking around. MVP stated that he does not consider that a failure on Swerve’s part but of the man who is managing. This led to Nana giving an upset reaction in response. MVP continued to bad mouth Nana for not doing enough for Strickland and told Nana to give Strickland his business card for the former champ to talk business with him. MVP then left while an upset Nana looked on.

Mina Shirakawa Makes Surprise Return on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2024 Show
Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2024 show also featured Stardom talent Mina Shirakawa making her surprise return to AEW.
Following Mariah May’s victory over Yuka Sakazaki to retain her AEW Women’s World Championship, May attempted to attack Sakazki only to be stopped by Willow Nightingale who ran out to save Sakazaki. This led to a brief staredown between Nightingale and May that was interrupted by Shirakawa’s music playing and her coming out to the stage. This caused Nightingale to become distracted and May laid her out with the AEW Women’s title belt in response. May then left teh ring and embraced Shirakawa leading to Sakazki running up the ramp and chased May away.

This was Shirakawa’s first appearance in AEW since the August 30th AEW Rampage show.
Jon Moxley Wins Shot for AEW World Title at AEW WrestleDream 2024
Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2024 show also featured Jon Moxley defeating Darby Allin in number one contender’s match for the AEW World Championship.
As a result of his victory, Moxley will officially challenge Bryan Danielson for the AEW World title at WrestleDream 2024, which takes place on October 12th at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington.
