WWE Debuts New Ref Cam at SummerSlam 2024

Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam 2024 event at the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio featured WWE officially debuting a new referee camera shot for their shows.

Prior to the start of the WWE Women’s World Championship match between Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan, Michael Cole brought up the small device that the match referee was wearing on his ear and stated that was a new referee camera that WWE would be debuting for the broadcast of tonight’s show.

Dominik Mysterio Turns Heel on Rhea Ripley & Joins with Liv Morgan at SummerSlam 2024

Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam 2024 event also featured Dominik Mysterio turning heel on Rhea Ripley and joined Liv Morgan.

Near the end of the match, Mysterio prevented Rhea from hitting Morgan with a chair telling her to stay focus and not lose the chance to win back her title. This led to Morgan hitting a dropkick to Ripley that sent her crashing into Mysterio on the apron and Mysterio landing onto the floor. Morgan then hit an Oblivion to Ripley for a near fall right afterwards. After Mysterio got back onto his feet, he grabbed a chair and slid it into the ring and distracted the referee. This led to Morgan catching Ripley with an Oblivion onto the chair for the pinfall victory to retain her title and Mysterio giving a little smile.

Following the match, Mysterio went up to Morgan on the outside and brought her back to her feet and gave her a big kiss. This led to Ripley being upset over what happened and Mysterio and Morgan and Mysterio leaving as a happy new couple as the crowd booed and Pat McAfee called Mysterio a piece of shit.

In a follow-up segment, an irate Damian Priest stormed into Judgement Day’s clubhouse demanding to know where Mysterio was since he wanted to get his hands on Mysterio for what he did to Ripley. Priest also angrily asked Finn Balor if he knew anything about this, which Balor stated he did not. This led to Balor and JD McDonagh trying to calm down and McDonagh stating they would find and take care of Mysterio and for Priest to stay since he had a big match against Gunther tonight.

Bron Breakker Wins Intercontinental Title at SummerSlam 2024

Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam 2024 event also featured Bron Breakker defeating Sami Zayn to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion.

This was Breakker’s first championship victory of his WWE main roster career and his fourth championship victory when including his WWE NXT career.

LA Knight Wins United States Title at SummerSlam 2024

Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam 2024 event also featured LA Knight defeating Logan Paul to become the new WWE United States Champion.

This was Knight’s first championship victory of his WWE main roster career and his second championship victory when including his WWE NXT career, following his Million Dollar Championship victory in 2021.

Nia Jax Wins WWE Women’s Title at SummerSlam 2024

Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam 2024 event also featured Nia Jax defeating Bayley to become the new WWE Women’s Champion.

This was Jax’s first WWE Women’s Championship victory since 2018.

Finn Balor Turns on Damian Priest & Gunther Wins WWE World Title at SummerSlam 2024

Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam 2024 event also featured Finn Balor turning on Damian Priest and Gunther becoming the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Earlier in the show, Priest had questioned Balor if he was involved in any way over Dominik Mysyerio turning on Rhea Ripley and costing her the chance to win back her WWE Women’s World title.

During the WWE World Heavyweight title match between Priest and Gunther, Balor came out to ringside to cheer on Priest despite Priest’s past orders telling Balor he wanted to do things on his own. Near the end of the match, Priest hit a Razor’s Edge to Gunther and followed it with a South of Heavens for a near fall that was broken up by Balor putting Gunther’s foot on the ropes. Priest did not realize what happened at first until he looked at the replay on the big screen and saw what Balor had done.

This led to an angry Priest trying to go after Balor only to get caught in a sleeper by Gunther that Priest was able to break out from. Priest then caught Gunther in a roll up for a near fall and went after Balor again grabbing his throat that was broken up by Gunther who locked in another sleeper for the referee stoppage victory to win the WWE World title.

This was Gunther’s first World Championship victory of his WWE career.

Arn Anderson Makes Surprise Appearance at SummerSlam 2024

Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam 2024 event also featured WWE Hall of Famer Arn Anderson making a surprise appearance.

Prior to the start of the Bloodline Rules match for the Undisputed WWE Championship between Solo Sikoa and Cody Rhodes, Rhodes came out of his tour bus for a lengthy special entrance that would make the Undertaker blush over how long it took. Rhodes first stepped off of his bus and received his dog Pharaoh who he took for a walk on his way into the venue and towards the backstage.

During his walk, Anderson was seen backstage and Rhodes stopped by to reunite with him. Anderson gave a rambling pep talk to Rhodes and after he was done, Anderson stated that he used his influence to get some friends for Rhodes for the Bloodline Rules match that he doesn’t know about and they are on their way if need be.

Rhodes then continued on his way backstage heading towards the stage area only to stop to pick up his Homelander robe to put on and hand off Pharaoh to someone.
