John Cena Comments on Having No Interest in Ever Wrestling Again After Retirement Tour
As noted before, John Cena will be holding a retirement tour for his in-ring WWE and wrestling career in 2025.
ComicBook.com held a recent interview with Cena. One of the topics discussed included Cena’s thoughts about his decision to retire from in-ring wrestling after 2025 is final and no check is big enough to convince him to come out of retirement.
“There isn’t a check writer with enough money to change my mind. When I hang it up in December, it isn’t something — I don’t want to continue for ego or financial gain. I built a relationship of trust and authenticity over the years with the WWE, and that’s people who think I suck and people who believe in me. They know that I shoot them straight and I’m trustworthy. I mean what I say. And when I’m done in December, I am done. It is the last time I will perform in a ring.
I’ll be a member of the WWE family as an ambassador and a grateful one. But you will see me wear this [a suit], not wristbands, jorts, the ball cap. In December 2025, that goes away. And that’s the reason why we’re putting so much equity and emphasis on this farewell tour. Because it truly is the last time for generations — for grandparents and parents and kids to get together in the same time. Grandparents could be like, ‘I didn’t know about wrestling and my son dragged me here.’ That son now has a son and daughter of their own, and they like John Cena, and now their kid likes Cody Rhodes. I want to try to do something special where we can all get together one last time and go through 25 years worth of memories.”
Randy Orton Reportedly Believed to Have Signed New WWE Contract
Randy Orton reportedly is currently believed to have signed a new contract with WWE to remain in the company for the foreseeable future, according to Fightful Select.
It was reported that their sources stated that Orton had signed a new contract that is five years in length that will keep him with WWE until late 2029. Prior to his new deal, it was reported that Orton’s contract had been originally set to expire at the end of this year but his deal was not as clear cut as it appeared.
When asked a question why Orton was offered a new contract instead of just extending his current contract for injury reasons, one WWE executive spoken to reportedly stated “I can’t confirm that he signed a new deal, but the guaranteed money in contracts has changed significantly since 2019. There have been updates to our live event schedules, touring, international dates, media commitments, merchandise, and social media that make it more reasonable to negotiate a new deal in many cases.”
