WWE Denies Reports of Their Performance Center is Moving to Las Vegas

WWE is currently denying reports of them planning to move their Performance Center from its current location in Orlando, Florida to a new location in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The rumors originated from reports from the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez and WrestleVotes.

WrestleVotes reported that their sources stated that TKO President and COO Mark Shapiro held a meeting earlier today with WWE employees in Stamford, Connecticut and the main topic that was discussed was WWE’s plans to move their Performance Center in Las Vegas within the near future. Meltzer had reported that his sources confirmed that Shapiro held a town hall meeting earlier today discussing Las Vegas becoming a new potential developmental location for WWE. Alvarez reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Live that his sources confirmed WrestleVotes’ report and stated that WWE talent and staff in Orlando were “shocked” when they learned of the news.

Following the releases of the reports, Fightful Select reported that those spoken to within WWE stated that the reports of them moving their Performance Center to Las Vegas is not true.

One source spoken to reportedly confirmed that Shapiro did hold a meeting today while others spoken to stated that Shapiro did not make an announcement indicating that the Performance Center would be moving to Las Vegas during this meeting.

It was reported that Shapiro was making a point that Las Vegas is a sports and entertainment destination and that having a WWE presence in the city is on the table. Shapiro reportedly also stated that the company would need to figure out what that presence is, how much of a presence it would be, and when it could happen.

It was also reported that none of their sources at WWE’s Performance Center had heard if any plans to move to Las Vegas and were shocked when they heard word that it could happen. Many of those spoken to reportedly brought up the proximity of the current Performance Center to talent on the main roster and their ability to easily access it. Those spoken to reportedly also stated that the costs of living for trainee talent is far more beneficial in Orlando.

In a follow-up report, the Wrestling Observer’s Ian Carey reported that their sources within WWE provided an update and also denied the reports of them moving their Performance Center. Carey reported that those spoken to confirmed that Shapiro had talks about Las Vegas at today’s meeting but only as an area for future growth for WWE. Shapiro reportedly had also talked about the potential of WWE opening up a new headquarters in the city in the future. Carey reported that those spoken to also stated that there are no definitive plans to move their Performance Center to Las Vegas and not anytime soon.
