Rhodes stated “Dustin doing the spot with the Von Erichs was so cool. I have such a love for the Von Erichs. I don’t think Kevin knows this, but I studied Kevin, I watched Kevin, I was so fascinated by Kevin Von Erich. To see his kids and Dustin, it was very touching. In addition to that, behind the curtain are my nephews Dalton and Dylan. They’re close with Dustin, and to see them go from playing around to the point where now I can see it–it’s one of those things where, once you start, you can’t stop. They’re both at the University of Texas and more than anything, my mom would like them to finish. But I look forward to the decisions they make. They’re not ready to wrestle Jacob Fatu just yet, but they’ll get there. It doesn’t–and won’t–end with me. We have our own bloodline.

We’ve already talked about this boxing match. I might have an opportunity to do it. I’m boxing somebody in Vegas. There is an opponent.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

I’ve been at Booker’s for a long time. I did extra work and things like that, but nothing like, ‘Hey, come in and we’ll take a look at you and things like that.’ I watched WWE all the time as a kid. I’m a WWF kid, I never even watched WCW growing up. But I feel like whenever I got older, I gravitated towards the Japanese style of professional wrestling, so in my head, I literally wanted to go to Japan. WWE or TNA and all these other places, it wasn’t the goal. I’d work for them. At the time, if they were giving it, I was gonna see what’s up. But in my head, I was like, ‘Japan, japan, Japan.’ I remember my parents being like, ‘How? How the hell do you think you’re gonna get on the other side of the world and do that?’ Actually, at the beginning of this year, I went for the first time for two weeks. DDT brought me out, and I wrestled out there.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
  • In a recent interview Love Wrestling, Baron Corbin gave his thoughts about how his second run in WWE’s NXT brand rekindled the fire he had for wrestling. Corbin stated “100% was. It relit that fire that I had when I started. When you’re around those guys, you can’t help it. Like I think maybe at the end of my WWE time, before I went down there, I was complacent. I was, you know, dreading getting on a plane every week and going to work. Now I’m excited. I’m like, hey, is it Thursday? Do I get to get on a plane? I’m like, where’s the show? What are we doing? But also, too, because the WWE universe is hot right now, man. They’re excited for everything. They’re cheering me, which is crazy. I never thought in my lifetime I would see that.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

Meltzer reported that Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston had tried to ask questions during the press conference but WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque did not call upon him during it. Meltzer speculated that this was likely WWE’s way of limiting any talks in regards to the recent transphobic comments made by Logan Paul and Pat McAfee and also anything related to Shane McMahon’s recent talks with AEW. In regards to the reason why Post Wrestling’s John Pollock was not invited, Meltzer reported it was due to WWE officials had felt that since Thurston and Pollock work together, only one was needed to be at the event. But honestly, I also think of all the ways that my body served me well and the way that, you know, I’ve put my body through a lot. A lot of the wrestlers who have wrestled for a long period of time, a lot of them haven’t done the crazy stuff that I did on the independents just to get noticed…I look back on it and like, what was I thinking? But that’s kind of what I had to do. And when I look back on it now and even the way I feel right now, I mean, the odds are I’m going to have to get neck surgery before the end of this year. That’s the reality of it, and that’s kind of something that I’ve accepted. It’s coming down the pike relatively soon.” (Transcript h/t: PostWrestling.com)

  • In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Chris Jericho gave his thoughts about the creation of his The Learning Tree group and online criticisms he has faced on social media over his group taking up time on AEW shows. Jericho stated “I’m a big proponent of letting the story lead you, not the other way around. That allows me to evolve. The whole Learning Tree is taking negativity from social media and getting a reaction out of it. That’s what wrestling is all about–getting people to react to what you’re doing. There’s a serious side, too–look at the vicious beatdowns we’ve given Samoa Joe and Hook and [Katsuyori] Shibata. It’s something I made a career out of, and it’s one of the reasons I’ve been doing it for so long at the highest of levels, which makes some people mad. This is what I do. I’ve never wanted to be a nostalgia act, I’ve never wanted to rest on my laurels. I’ve also never been afraid to take chances and do something different, and that’s what we’re doing right now. I think Big Bill is great–I loved him as Cass and I wanted to work with him. Tony Khan suggested Bryan Keith, and the bad apple character was born. The chemistry is great, and we’re putting a spotlight on something new–and that gives us some great stories to tell.
  • In a recent interview with The Winning Edge podcast, indies talent and former WWE UK talent Mark Andrews gave his thoughts about WWE’s recent talks for a potential WrestleMania event in London is a direct reaction to how well AEW has been doing in the United Kingdom. Andrew stated “100%. I mean, let’s look at the history books, right? I think it’s kind of pretty proven from the last well, 10 years, the WWE definitely, sometimes misses the boat, and then last minute, reacts a little bit, you know what I mean? That’s not me kind of trying to insult the company because they’re the biggest company in the wrestling world. I think sometimes that they probably have so many plates spinning, they miss things. In my opinion, I’m surprised how long it’s taken up to get to this because, AEW, they sold out Wembley last year at All In. It’s only now, after the second All In is happening in Wembley that the rumors are coming around about potentially having WrestleMania in London. Fans have been wanting it for years, especially in London. So yeah, it feels crazy to me that it’s kind of taken this long, if I’m honest, but I definitely think it’s a direct reaction to how well AEW is doing in the UK.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

I trust Bret’s words above anybody’s, so having him look it over and give me pointers here and there, I can’t ask for anything better to be honest.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

D’Amore stated “When we first started the reclamation project of IMPACT Wrestling, there was a lot of people against us. It was going out and saying, ‘Just give us another chance. Don’t hate what we do before you see it, please.’ To be able to get that company back on its feet and in the right direction and in a real good spot — truthfully, for me, I couldn’t say this while I was there. I always thought the name IMPACT sucked. I thought it sucked. I hated it being IMPACT Wrestling. The decision had been made. I didn’t disagree at the time and we couldn’t change it when I first took over because it had been bounced around. It was TNA, it was IMPACT, it was TNA, it was GWF, it was IMPACT. In my heart, the company where I made my bones and the company I bled and sweat for was TNA Wrestling. I knew from day one when they handed us the reigns, December 1, 2017, after I had been there for months as a consultant, I knew it was TNA Wrestling that needed to rise, not IMPACT. I never cared if IMPACT lived or died. I cared about TNA. I came there with a mission and a direction to revive it and breathe life into it. With a great team, I think we did that.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
