As noted before, this past Sunday’s AEW All In 2024 Zero Hour pre-show featured Swerve Strickland signing a new contract with AEW to remain in the company for the foreseeable future.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that Strickland’s new deal will keep him in AEW through September of 2029.
Meltzer reported that Strickland had signed a new deal with AEW several weeks ago and the decision was made to hold off on the announcement until All In 2024. WWE reportedly had made an attempt to potentially sign both Strickland and Prince Nana to deals with them prior to Strickland’s signing his new deal with AEW.
In regards to monetary amounts, Meltzer reported that those spoken to confirmed that Strickland’s new deal with AEW is believed to be among the the biggest deals in pro wrestling history. Melzter reported that Strickland’s new deal is very likely well below what Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Randy Orton are currently making in WWE but would be in the range of what Kazuchika Okada and Mercedes Mone are currently making in AEW for top star deals.
