Note on AEW Dynamite Viewership for August 21st

Due to this week’s issue being released much earlier than usual, ratings-related information were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

As noted before, AEW drew 698,000 viewers and a 0.24 key demographic rating for their August 21st episode.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for August 16th

The August 16th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership and a slight increase in key demographic ratings and key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 295,000 viewers and a 0.10 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 20th place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to a combination of the end of stiff sports competition from the 2024 Summer Olympic Games and the large increase from their Over 50 demographic viewership group, which its percentage was not given, and younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 59.1% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the MLB Prime Time Baseball game drew 276,000 viewers on MLB Network, the 2024 Professional Fighters League Playoffs drew 276,000 viewers on ESPN, On Patrol Live drew 739,000 viewers on REELZ Channel, and 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After First Look drew 534,000 viewers on TLC.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 133,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 16,000 viewers, Females 18-34 had 19,000 viewers, Males 35-49 had 70,000 viewers, and Females 35-49 had 28,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 64.7% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 29.4% in overall viewership and down 21.3% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 16.7% compared to the same week last year.


More on AEW Collision Viewership for August 17th

The August 17th episode of AEW Collision saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership and a slight increase in key demographic ratings but suffered a slight decline in key demographic rankings.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to a combination of the end of stiff sports competition from the 2024 Summer Olympic Games and the very large increase from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 160.9% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the NFL Preseason game of Buffalo Bills vs. Pittsburgh Steelers drew 1,980,000 viewers on NFL Network, the MLB game of Cleveland Guardians vs. Milwaukee Brewers drew 1,722,000 viewers on FOX, the UFC 305 Prelims drew 970,000 viewers on ESPN, the 2024 Little League World Series game of Pennsylvania vs. New Hampshire drew 705,000 viewers on ESPN2, and On Patrol Live drew 737,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 175,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 32,000 viewers, Females 18-34 had 28,000 viewers, Males 35-49 had 91,000 viewers, and Females 35-49 had 24,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 70.3% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 15.8% in overall viewership and down 21.5% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 22.1% compared to the same week last year.
